Busting a lottery gambling ring with 50 billion VND

On January 18, Vinh City Police (Nghe An) announced that the unit had initiated a case and prosecuted 9 suspects in a lottery gambling ring led by Pham Thi Kim (born in 1972, residing in Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city).
Previously, the Task Force caught Pham Thi Kim red-handed while she was betting on lottery tickets. Police seized many mobile phones, 85 million VND, 400 USD and many important documents.

At the same time, other working groups simultaneously arrested Ho Thi Than (born in 1973), Pham Thi Huong (born in 1964), Nguyen Thi Lan (born in 1975), Tran Thu Huong (born in 1978), Nguyen Thu Hien (born in 1980), Nguyen Mai Hoa (born in 1971), Nguyen Kim Dung (born in 1972) all residing in Vinh City) and Tran Van Thang (born in 1979), residing in Nghi Hoa Commune, Nghi Loc District.
The police determined that the subjects' modus operandi was to use phones to receive and send lottery messages from agents to Kim. Then Kim and his accomplices used software on the phone to calculate wins and losses from lottery results.
The investigation agency has proven that the amount of money that the subjects participated in gambling in this form was up to nearly 50 billion VND.
Currently, the three defendants Ho Thi Than, Nguyen Thu Hien and Nguyen Kim Dung are being banned from leaving their place of residence; the remaining six defendants are being detained to serve the investigation./.
