Cau Giay District Police, Hanoi are detaining Ninh Van My (35 years old, from Tuyen Quang) to investigate the act of property theft.

At 3am on July 4, My brought a safe-breaking tool and broke into a house in Dich Vong Hau ward. After searching the first floor and finding nothing, My went up to the second floor but there was someone there so he continued to the third floor.

Not finding any valuables, My hid in the bathroom, waiting for an opportunity to strike. At 8:30 a.m. the same day, knowing that the homeowner had gone to work, MyI groped into the room on the second floor and saw a blue safe at the head of the bed.

Unable to open the lock, My brought the safe into the bathroom, plugged in a grinder and used specialized equipment to break through the back part but could not get anything inside.

At around 9:30 a.m., when My was wearing a backpack containing tools and going down the stairs to escape, the homeowner and his wife suddenly returned, discovered him, and rushed in to arrest him.

According to the police, My did not take any property. The homeowner left all the gold, silver, and jewelry in a small compartment in the safe, but the thief did not see it.
