Signs your child may be being abused

Parents need to inquire about their children's learning, eating and living situation at school; teach their children independence before going to school.

Children under three years old cannot speak or do not have enough vocabulary to express themselves, so at this stage, parents can only recognize that their child is being abused through changes in the child's body and psychology.

Most of the recent child abuse cases involve preschool children - an age when they are not yet able to fight back and cannot express the pain they are suffering.

Time can heal wounds and fade scars on the body, but it cannot erase the damage in the child's mind and soul. Children who have been victims of violence for a long time can have their personalities changed, from gentle to fierce and stubborn, or from happy and carefree to shy and not wanting to interact with others. Many children are psychologically affected to the point of hallucinations, mental crises and autism.

These injuries can heal, or they can stay with the children forever if the family does not have treatment support measures. Parents can help their children recognize and prevent violence through daily activities such as: caring for and sharing pressure with their children's homeroom teachers; regularly visiting the children's learning, eating and living situation at school; before sending their children to school, parents need to try to teach their children basic knowledge in life to be more independent when going to class. And especially, parents need to observe their children's changes every day to protect them even when they have not said anything.
