Signs of psychosis caused by playing "tongue spells" are easily recognizable, such as staying awake at night and sleeping during the day, hallucinating that you are a bird, and wanting to fight when thinking the person opposite is an enemy.

Specialist level 2 doctor Huynh Thanh Hien, Ho Chi Minh City Mental Hospital said that the paper stamps contain LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) or "tongue charm", which is actually a slow-acting substance. Users can die before becoming addicted, due to the effects of hallucinations caused by this substance.

The signs of a person using LSD are very similar to those of a person using meth. The dose of LSD in LSD is difficult to cause immediate addiction but must be used in large quantities. When used in sufficient quantities, it will cause a state of hallucination commonly known as psychosis. Some signs of a person using LSD include fear, screaming, sometimes being aggressive and wanting to attack others, not eating, sleeping during the day and staying awake at night...

According to Dr. Hien, when players fall into a state of auditory hallucinations, they are always led by negative words ringing in their ears such as: "It is your enemy. Hit it." Or when falling into a state of astigmatism, all colors and shapes of objects change, as if the player has stepped onto another planet. This state is most dangerous for traffic participants using paper stamps. At that time, the car and traffic lights all change into strange colors and shapes in the player's eyes, making them unaware of the danger and rushing into it. "This is the dangerous thing for paper stamp players, as they can die from these dangers before dying from addiction," said Dr. Hien.

Dr. Hien recalled a story a year ago when he treated a 13-year-old patient who had developed psychosis due to an overdose of stamps. "Because of the child's screaming, fear, and abnormal circadian rhythm, his mother brought him to see me. At that time, it was very strange that he did not acknowledge his mother, avoided her, and explained the reason, which surprised me," the doctor recalled.

The doctor said that at that time the child insisted: "You are not my mother, my mother does not have two fangs like a witch." These symptoms led Dr. Hien to determine that the boy was suffering from psychosis due to stimulant use. The agent later found by the doctor and the family was a paper stamp.

"The boy said that for nearly a month before that, he had been sucking on one piece of stamp every day, then gradually five small stamps the size of a fingernail. That was the first time I knew about this type of paper stamp drug and that was the cause of the boy's illness," Dr. Hien added.

In terms of psychiatry, doctors believe that visual and auditory hallucinations caused by using paper stamps are considered schizophrenia. The treatment is similar, on the one hand, stop using paper stamps, on the other hand, take medication for about 10 days according to the psychiatric treatment regimen and the patient will be healthy.

Doctor Hien said: "It is not difficult to treat psychosis caused by stamps, but the fear is that if it is not detected in time, the user will die from the effects of this substance." The doctor gave an example, when having an attack after using stamps, people often think they are birds, on the 10th floor but think they are on the 1st floor and can fly, so they step out onto the railing and "let their soul spread its wings" to the ground, which can easily lead to death.

Currently in the world, LSD in paper stamps causes the strongest hallucination among drugs, so the United Nations Convention (1958) banned its use in the pharmaceutical and medical fields. LSD was banned from production in the 1970s, but recently reappeared and was imported into Vietnam.

The hallucinogenic mechanism of LSD leads people into the “path of appreciation”, causing hallucinations and a tendency to become dependent. "To know if your child is using 'tongue charms', parents should pay attention to recognize when they often do not sleep due to increased heart rate, so they will lose sleep at night and sleep during the day," Dr. Hien advised.
