(Baonghean) - The "Vinh orange consumption connection forum" combined with direct communication and promotion via the Zoom platform is expected to open up many consumption opportunities for Vinh orange products, which are under a lot of competitive pressure.

Competitive pressure
Nghe An currently has 4,735 hectares of oranges, of which the area for products is about 3,450 hectares, the orange harvest in 2021 is estimated at 60,000 tons. In recent times, the province has had many policies to support businesses, cooperatives, and orange producers to invest in applying high technology, applying VietGAP, GlobaGAP, packaging, labels...

Up to now, the whole province has 220 hectares of oranges using drip irrigation technology; many VietGAP and GlobalGAP orange production areas have been formed, with over 150 hectares of oranges certified.

From the province's incentive policy, many businesses, cooperatives, and orange growers haveredirectBuilding organic and ecological orange gardens, aiming for sustainable development, providing quality and safe products for consumers, such as Vi Hang orange farm (Thanh Duc, Thanh Chuong), Vinh Ky Yen orange farm (Minh Hop, Quy Hop)...

100% of the orange growing area in Nghe An has been implemented by state management agencies with food safety management measures such as granting food safety eligibility certificates, signing food safety commitments, producing according to good agricultural standards...; products consumed in supermarkets and retail stores are all attached with product traceability stamps.

Vinh oranges were also granted a Certificate of Geographical Indication Registration for the varieties Xa Doai orange, Van Du orange, Song Con orange, and V2 orange located in an area of ​​73 communes in 11 districts of Nghe An province.

As a famous specialty product of Nghe An, Vinh oranges have recently been welcomed and highly appreciated by consumers nationwide. Thanks to the efforts of the province, businesses, cooperatives, and orange growers have proactively built their brands,product promotionIn the domestic and foreign markets, Vinh oranges have been consumed at large supermarkets BigC; Winmart, Lottee, ... clean food store chains; sold through trade fairs; gardeners selling agents in the provinces, selling online via the internet, e-commerce platforms ...

However, consumption throughtraderLocal purchasing for sale in and out of the province is still the main part, accounting for about 75-80%, the value is not high and there are many potential problems. In the province, there are currently 2 fruit juice processing factories but neither of them uses oranges as raw materials; Vinh oranges are mainly sold in the market as fresh fruit and squeezed juice.

In particular, recently, some provinces such as Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa... have also developed the planting area of ​​Vinh orange varieties such as Xa Doai long vang; V2; Van Du, causing a situationcompetequite drastic. Consumers find it difficult to distinguish Vinh oranges grown in Nghe An and Vinh oranges grown in other provinces.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Ha, Head of the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management, "To increase the value of Vinh oranges, it is necessary to expand the market, promote consumption channels through online, supermarket systems, clean food stores and sell through shopping centers nationwide, and e-commerce platforms."

Promoting connection for Vinh orange consumption

In the province's orientation, Vinh oranges are still identified as the province's key product in the coming time. Along with production development, solutions to promote and find sources ofstable consumption, high value is being focused on by Nghe An. Mr. Nguyen Van De, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: Nghe An will promote the establishment of cooperatives and cooperative groups specializing in orange production. Build chains linking from raw material supply - production - consumption to strengthen management and supervision while creating connections with business units.

At the Vinh Orange Consumption Connection Forum held on November 26 in Vinh city, with the direct presence of leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, e-commerce platforms, supermarkets, chain stores, and the online participation of leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Farmers' Association, Vietnam Cooperative Alliance...; a large number of distributors, retailers, businesses and representatives of many provinces and cities across the country; not only Vinh oranges will be introduced and promoted, but a number of consumption contracts will be signed.

In the coming time, Nghe An will continue to promote and advertise products on mass media, so that the Vinh orange brand can reach domestic and foreign consumers. Connect with business corporations, large supermarket chains, participate in domestic and foreign fairs and exhibitions to increase the proportion of Vinh oranges consumed through supermarket channels and clean food store chains.

At the same time, in coordination with thee-commerce platformDomestically, open booths to sell Vinh orange products on the floor; support orange growers and traders to improve quality, perfect products, packaging, labels, and sales skills to promote consumption through agents and online sales, striving for about 40% of total Vinh orange output to be consumed through this channel.

"Localities also need to strengthen direction and supervision of orange production and quality; closely coordinate to manage and direct production, ensure food safety, build linkage chains, and consume products; build labels and traceability stamps to improveVinh orange brand, introducing quality products to consumers nationwide. Orange growers, in addition to producing quality products, completing products from production, packaging, labeling, ... must also actively participate in promotional activities, introducing products to connect quickly and as soon as possible with consumers", Mr. Nguyen Van Ha shared.

Vinh oranges begin to be harvested in October and last until February of the following year. This year, Nghe An is expected to produce 51,000 tons of oranges.

At the Vinh Orange Consumption Connection Forum, Nghe An also requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development and relevant central and provincial agencies to continue supporting the consumption of Nghe An agricultural products in general and Vinh oranges in particular in domestic and foreign markets. It requested business corporations, supermarkets, and clean food store chains nationwide to support the promotion and create conditions for Vinh oranges to be consumed in the system.
