Proposing suitable targets for Gender Equality Strategy in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 18, the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women held a consultation workshop to adjust and supplement some contents of the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2011 - 2020 in Nghe An province.

At the workshop, comrade Doan Hong Vu said: From the results of more than 10 years of implementing the Law on Gender Equality and nearly 8 years of implementing the targets and objectives of the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2011-2010, awareness of gender and gender equality of each individual, family and community has many positive changes.
The province has established an organizational apparatus for gender equality work and a Committee for Gender Equality from the provincial level to the commune and ward levels. 16 targets of the National Strategy on Gender Equality of Nghe An province for the period 2011-2015, 2016-2020 have been achieved and exceeded the set plan.

Besides the above results, the National Strategy on Gender Equality in the province still has some limitations, including 8 gender equality targets that have not met the set plan.

From the presentation of the current situation in implementing the goals and targets of the Strategy, delegates proposed to amend and supplement the goals and targets of the Strategy to suit the implementation practices in the province in the period of 2018-2020.

Speaking at the workshop, Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee requested the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the standing agency of the Provincial Committee for the Promotion of Women's Rights and Social Affairs to fully receive the comments contributed at the workshop, considering these as the basis for research, synthesis, and submission to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration, amendment, and supplementation in the Gender Equality Strategy for the period 2018 - 2020. He hopes that from these indicators, Gender Equality work will be integrated and implemented more effectively in the coming time.
Some proposed adjusted indicators:
- The rate of women participating in Party committees decreased from 20% to 16.67%;
- The proportion of Party agencies and socio-political organizations with key female leaders if the agency or organization has a ratio of 30% or more; female cadres, civil servants and public employees from 100% to 68.33% (required to review the proportion of women in organizations);
- The literacy rate of women aged 15-60 is equal to that of men;
- The rate of perpetrators of domestic violence detected and counseled at domestic violence prevention counseling facilities decreased from 85% to 75%;
- Form a team of collaborators and volunteers to participate in gender equality and VSTBPN work at all levels, reducing the rate from 100% to 50% by 2020.
