While fishing, a 4th grade female student in Nghe An tragically drowned.

At around 4:00 p.m. on July 5, a tragic drowning incident occurred in Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district. The victim was Cut Thi Phuong Linh, born in 2009, the daughter of Cut Van Toan, a resident of Coi village.

On the afternoon of July 5, Linh and four other friends in the village went fishing at the mouth of Khe Coi estuary that flows into the Nam Non River. After fishing, Linh waded back into the river to wash the mud off her clothes, but unfortunately slipped and fell into the water.

Although her friends tried to save her and called for help, Linh was swept away by the deep water. As of 3:00 p.m. on July 6, the body of Cut Thi Phuong Linh had not been found.

Mr. Vi Dinh Phuc - Chairman of the People's Committee of Luong Minh Commune said: At the time Linh drowned, the river water level was not high and the flow was normal. Immediately after learning about the incident, the leaders of Luong Minh Commune reported to the People's Committee of Tuong Duong District and the district leaders asked Ban Ve Hydropower Company to close the floodgate to lower the water level to support the search for the victim's body.

Relatives and authorities have been on duty and searching all night and have not yet found him.

It is known that Mr. Cut Van Toan has 5 children, Cut Thi Phuong Linh is the 4th child, currently in 4th grade.

Over the past 3 days, tragic drowning incidents have occurred continuously in Nghe An province. On the morning of July 5, while following his mother to work, an 8-year-old boy in Lang Khe commune fell into the water and died. Previously, on July 4, a 4-year-old boy in Dien Lien commune, Dien Chau district, followed his mother to work in the fields and also fell into the water and died. On the same day, July 4, while playing with his sister, a 22-month-old boy in Do Thanh commune, Yen Thanh (Nghe An) fell into a flooded rice field after a rain and died.
