A/H5N6 influenza epidemic recurs dangerously in the 'capital' of VietGAP chicken farming in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On December 11, the local government of Dien Trung commune, Dien Chau district (Nghe An) had to destroy thousands of chickens infected with avian influenza A/H5N6.

Mr. Ho Cong Thang - Vice Chairman of Dien Trung Commune People's Committee,Dien Chau districtsaid: On the afternoon of December 10, the veterinary agency had test results of sick chicken samples from 2 chicken farms in the area positive for avian influenza A/H5N6. Those were the chicken farm of Mr. Le Van Giang's household and the chicken farm of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ngu's family.

On the morning of December 11, local authorities organizeddestroy2,500 laying hens of Mr. Le Van Giang's family and 2,300 broiler chickens of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ngu's family, with a total weight of over 6 tons.

Dien Trung commune is a locality with a large poultry flock, with 160 farms raising broiler chickens and laying hens, with a total flock of 387,000 birds, considered the commune with the largest poultry flock in Nghe An today.

"The most worrying thing is that the locality currently has 40,000 chickens ready to be sold and every day there are 24,000 eggs that cannot be sold, due to the epidemic, so they are not allowed to be sold outside. The locality has a large chicken flock, so the commune is highly focused on epidemic prevention work. If the epidemic spreads strongly, it will greatly affect the economy of many households," Mr. Ho Cong Thang shared.

Previously, on December 7, at the chicken farm of Mr. Nguyen Van Dong's family in hamlet 5, Dien Trung commune, there was an infection.avian influenza A/H5N6, destroyed 4,000 chickens.

Immediately after the outbreak of A/H5N6 flu, Dien Trung commune set up 8 epidemic control checkpoints on all roads leading to and from the commune, mobilizing nearly 50 personnel to work 24/7. At the same time, 3 tons of lime powder and 40 liters of chemicals were used to serve the epidemic prevention work./.
