Support for children of workers in difficult circumstances
(Baonghean.vn)- Taking care of workers' and laborers' children has long been a regular activity of Nghe An Trade Union. With the dedication of the union staff, this activity is increasingly being implemented in a creative and practical way.
One big family
At Nghe An Civil Servants' Trade Union, in addition to the activity of giving gifts to children of union members, workers, civil servants, and laborers before the new school year, the activity of praising children with good academic achievements is also held annually. Since the beginning of 2023, grassroots trade unions under the Civil Servants' Trade Union have enthusiastically responded to the "Godmother" program launched by the higher-level trade union.
Born in 2011, Luong The Uyen Nhi lost her father when she was in first grade. The family was poor and her mother's health was poor. Nhi and her mother lived in poverty and hardship in an old house near the border in Tan Sang village, Ngoc Lam commune, Thanh Chuong district.
Knowing Nhi's situation from the program“Godmother”, The Trade Union of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies has adopted Nhi as its adopted child, and is providing her with monthly financial support with a total estimated amount of 105 million VND for 7 years. Not only providing material support, the Trade Union of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies has truly brought Nhi and her mother a family with a lot of warmth and love.

Sharing her views on implementing this program, Ms. Ho Hong Lien - a Trade Union officer of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies Bloc confided: “We want to make up for the children’s material and spiritual shortcomings, and want them to have more fathers and mothers who are not related by blood but who love them very much. That is also the reason why we travel hundreds of kilometers to visit the mother and child regularly, bringing gifts such as clothes, books, toys, etc. for the children and together cooking cozy family meals for the children, guiding them to be independent, doing housework, etc.”
Receiving the affection of her godparents, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa - Uyen Nhi's mother, could not hide her emotions: "Since her father passed away, Nhi has become very quiet and difficult to approach. But the care, patience and sincere love of the aunts and uncles of the Party Committee's Trade Union of the Provincial Agencies Bloc have made her open her heart and accept. She loves her uncles and aunts very much, every time she meets them she is very happy, every time she says goodbye she is reluctant... Before the new school year, the uncles and aunts came to visit her, gave her a bag, books, toys... and taught her how to make moon cakes. Nhi really has more relatives, and we have more support."

Uyen Nhi’s case is one of 80 children receiving support from the “Godmother” program implemented by grassroots unions under the Civil Servants’ Union. This is also a typical example of reality: With the same program, if you put a lot of heart, love and concern into it, you will reap worthy sweet fruits.
Go to school with me
In the exchange part of the program "Sharing love, going to school with you" in 2023 organized by the Labor Federation of Cua Lo town, Nguyen Hoang Phuong Thao (10 years old) moved the whole hall when she stood up to share her family's situation.
Orphaned from a young age, Thao and her sister lived with their mother, a kindergarten teacher with a meager salary who often left early and returned late. Although she knew her mother and grandparents loved her very much and made up for it, Thao could not help but feel sad at times because of the deprivation and deprivation. Many children in the hall that day had the same situation as Thao.

“Sharing love, going to school with you” is an activity annually implemented by the Labor Federation of Cua Lo town to share and encourage children who are union members and workers in difficult circumstances. Although the gift is not much in material terms, it has great spiritual value.
Sharing about the 2023 program that just took place, Ms. Phung Thi Hanh - President of the Cua Lo Town Labor Federation said: “The new point in this year's program is that we have coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of Cua Lo Town to call for and connect units, businesses, grassroots unions, and philanthropists to join hands to share with children who are union members, workers in difficult circumstances, orphans... The children not only receive practical gifts but also interact, are equipped with many independent skills and positive perspectives on life. We also hope that the program will be spread so that disadvantaged and disadvantaged students have more support in life".

“After returning from this year’s program, both my children felt very happy. Every year, they only come to receive gifts, but this year they also participated in exchange activities, picnics, and skill training. Similar events have great spiritual significance for the children, and at the same time create opportunities for them to overcome their complexes, open up, and share more,” confided Ms. Dinh Thi Huyen, a teacher at Nghi Huong Kindergarten.

Also in 2023, the Cua Lo Town Labor Federation launched the "Godmother" program at grassroots unions. To date, 12 units have registered to sponsor 12 children, spreading the sense of responsibility of unions at all levels tounion members, workers, officials and workers in the town.
