Dien Chau suspends teaching for 3rd grade teacher who beat student

Initial information, on the afternoon of May 10, Ms. Tran Thi P. (28 years old, Dien Yen commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An) while taking her child Nguyen Thi Thu Ph. (8 years old) to bathe, discovered many bruises on her back and shoulders.

Ph. is a third grade student at Dien Yen 1 Primary School. Before that, Ph. came home from school and complained of pain but did not tell his mother the reason. That evening, while bathing her child, Ph.'s mother discovered the wounds on his back.
When her mother questioned her, Ph. replied that she was beaten by her teacher because she could not do her homework in class. Ms. P. then went to see and report the incident to the school principal.
On the evening of May 10, the school's board of directors and homeroom teacher came to apologize and cooperated with the family to take Ph. for a medical check-up.

Discussing further about the above incident, Mr. Mai Ngoc Long - Head of the Department of Education and Training said: This morning (May 11), the Department sent staff to work directly with the school. After verification, it was true that the teacher used a ruler to hit Ph. because he did not complete his homework in class. The Department directed the school to temporarily stop the teacher who hit the student from teaching the class, and at the same time assigned another teacher to temporarily take charge.
Immediately after the above incident, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan - Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training also said: After receiving the information, the Department directed the Department of Education and Training of Dien Chau district to temporarily suspend the teacher who beat the student for 15 days. In addition, the teacher was assigned to coordinate with the family to take Ph to the hospital for examination to receive the best treatment if there were any injuries.
Chief of OfficeDepartment of Education and Trainingalso said that, now entering the end of the school year, schools are actively implementing testing and evaluating students. However, because of learning results, teachers should not act without restraint and use non-educational measures.
