More than 100 people representing nearly 950 prestigious people in the province participated in the forum "Listening to the voices of prestigious people among ethnic minorities" organized by the Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province.

On the morning of July 11, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee coordinated with the Provincial Ethnic Committee and the Provincial Border Guard Command to organize a seminar on "Listening to the voices of prestigious people among ethnic minorities" in 2024.
Comrades: Le Van Ngoc - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Vi My Son - Deputy Head of the Provincial Ethnic Committee and Colonel Tran Dang Khoa - Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command chaired the conference.
Nghe An is a province with many ethnic minorities, accounting for 14.76% of the province's population; of which 5 main ethnic groups are Thai, Tho, Kho Mu, Mong, O Du. Ethnic minorities currently live in 1,339 villages and hamlets of 252 communes and towns, belonging to 12 districts and towns in the province.

In recent times, along with the general development of the province, ethnic minority areas in Nghe An have also had quite strong developments, gradually narrowing the gap between the plains, mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas.
The result of that change is the extremely important contribution of prestigious people in villages, hamlets, and residential areas with a total of 926 people in the whole province. This team is the "bridge" in propagating and raising awareness of compliance with the policies, laws and policies of the Party and State among the people; in changing the awareness and will to rise up to reduce poverty and get rich of the people, with the poverty reduction rate in recent years reaching 3 - 5%/year.

Prestigious people also play a role in propagating and mobilizing people to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values and identities of ethnic groups; ensuring peace for the people, the area, and the border.
This team has also been contributing to building the political system at the grassroots level by directly participating in Party committees, management boards, Front working boards, and youth unions and associations in villages and hamlets; participating in self-management teams, border marker protection teams, etc.

At the conference, in addition to appreciating the attention and care of the Party and State along with all levels in the province, creating many changes for mountainous areas and ethnic minorities; 16 opinions exchanged also mentioned many issues that all levels need to continue to pay attention to and resolve.
The most discussed issue is related to people's basic needs, including land for production, residential land, and domestic water.

According to some suggestions, the province should study converting some areas not belonging to special-use forests and land from agricultural and forestry companies to hand over to people for production.
On the other hand, in the process of constructing domestic water projects, it is necessary to carefully survey the actual situation and consult with the people to ensure that the projects are effective after investment.

Some opinions also reflected and proposed that the authorities promptly renovate and upgrade some degraded traffic and irrigation routes; pay attention to embellishing historical and cultural relics; support resources to build community cultural houses to meet the needs after merging villages and hamlets; promote solutions and measures to repel social evils, etc.

Based on the opinions of prestigious people at the conference, on behalf of the chairing comrades, comrade Le Van Ngoc - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee received and acknowledged the opinions and affirmed that the Provincial Fatherland Front has the responsibility to synthesize and propose to competent levels and branches to study and resolve.
