Nghe An delegation pays tribute to heroic martyrs at Truong Son cemetery and Road 9
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 14, a delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province led by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee came to offer flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs resting at the National Martyrs' Cemetery on Road 9, Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, Quang Tri province.
The delegation included representatives of leaders of departments, agencies, unions and armed forces in the province.

Along with the above activities, the Provincial Party Standing Committee directed the establishment of a working group to offer incense, flowers, and pay tribute at martyrs' cemeteries in the area as well as the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery and the Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery. This "Drinking water, remember its source" activity has great significance - warming the hearts of martyrs' families.

During the two great and long resistance wars of the nation, together with the people of the whole country, Nghe An had tens of thousands of outstanding sons joining the army, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers on all battlefields as well as serving in combat in their homeland. The whole province had more than 45 thousand martyrs who heroically sacrificed, more than 56 thousand wounded and sick soldiers.

Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery is one of 72 martyrs' cemeteries in Quang Tri province, a relic closely associated with the heroic history of the 559th Corps and the youth volunteer force that fought bravely for 16 years on the front line and the legendary Truong Son road. Truong Son Cemetery currently has 10,263 soldiers resting in peace, including 1,297 graves of martyrs who are children of Nghe An province.

The National Road 9 Martyrs' Cemetery is the resting place of 10,087 heroic martyrs who fought and served on the Road 9 front, the Quang Tri battlefield and Laos during the resistance war against the US, including 220 martyrs from Nghe An.
