Nghe An man prosecuted in case of destroying the largest cockfighting arena in the country

On July 15, news from the Investigation Police Agency of Quang Binh Province Police said that the Criminal Police Department (PC45) of Quang Binh Police had initiated a case, prosecuted 22 subjects, of which 16 subjects were banned from leaving their place of residence, and temporarily detained 6 subjects in the case of dismantling a gambling den at the largest cockfighting arena in the country.

Accordingly, the subjects temporarily detained include: Dang Van Dien (41 years old), residing in Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh; Nguyen Thanh Tung (29 years old), residing in Phan Rang, Ninh Thuan; Duong Trong Dung (33 years old), residing in Thanh Chuong District, Nghe An; Dang Duy Thinh (45 years old), residing in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh; Tran Thanh Tinh (41 years old), residing in Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh and Vo Van Nhiem (38 years old), residing in Phu Cat District, Binh Dinh.

Nearly 30 luxury and expensive cars were temporarily detained at the cockfighting arena.

According to initial records, on May 1, 2016, Quang Binh Provincial Police raided a cockfighting arena on the Dong Hoi City bypass, Quang Binh, causing a stir in the cockfighting world nationwide.

Amount of evidence collected at the cockfighting arena

This is considered one of the largest cockfighting arenas in the country. When the police raided, hundreds of cockfighting owners from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nghe An, Hai Phong, and Thua Thien Hue were engrossed in gambling.

Cockfighting rules are publicly posted at the cockfighting arena by the owner.

At the cockfighting arena, the police temporarily detained hundreds of subjects, along with nearly 30 luxury cars, more than 3 billion VND in cash, of which the money collected according to the record of arresting the offender red-handed was more than 373 million VND.

The case is currently being investigated and clarified by authorities in Quang Binh province.
