Receiving the Certificate of Provincial Historical Relic Ranking for General Chu Huy Man Memorial Site
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 17, Vinh City People's Committee solemnly held a ceremony to receive the Certificate of Provincial Historical Relic Ranking for the memorial site and celebrate the 111th birthday of General Chu Huy Man.
Attending the ceremony were Major General Phan Van Sy - Deputy Chief of Politics of Military Region 4. On the side of Nghe An province, there were members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Thi My Hanh - Director of the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports; representatives of leaders of a number of departments, agencies and branches.

General Chu Huy Man (March 17, 1913 - July 1, 2006), whose birth name was Chu Van Dieu, was born in Yen Luu commune, Yen Truong canton, Hung Nguyen district (now Hung Hoa commune, Vinh city), Nghe An province. Absorbing the traditions of his revolutionary homeland, guided by Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought, he soon became enlightened about the revolution and matured on the path of struggle under the leadership of the Party.
During the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement (1930-1931), he was assigned as Deputy Captain of the Red Self-Defense Team and was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam at the age of 17.

During the resistance wars against France and the US, with his talent, profound thinking, creativity and practical experience in revolutionary activities, comrade Chu Huy Man made many important contributions to the victories of our army and people from the August Revolution in 1945, the Viet Bac Autumn-Winter Campaign in 1947, the Dien Bien Phu Victory in 1954, the Mau Than Campaign in 1968, and the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975. In particular, he played an important role in supporting and helping Laos.
After the country was reunified, Comrade Chu Huy Man continued to join the Army and held many important positions such as Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Party Committee, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Vice Chairman of the State Council, National Assembly delegate of the 2nd, 6th and 7th terms... He was awarded many noble awards and medals by the Party and State.

In 2012, to honor the General's contributions, Nghe An province built the General Chu Huy Man Memorial Site right in his hometown in Phong Hao village, Hung Hoa commune. The memorial site covers an area of 4,315m2.2including items: Memorial house, guest house, campus, walking path, parking lot... Here are kept many artifacts, documents, images related to the life and career of the comrade.
Currently, the Memorial Site of General Chu Huy Man has become one of the destinations for people and students in Vinh city to educate about patriotism and revolutionary traditions.

With its scientific and historical value, on January 20, 2024, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 220/QD-UBND ranking the General Chu Huy Man Memorial Site as a provincial historical relic./.
