Thai people in Con Cuong grow 3 more hectares of medicinal herbs according to VietGAP
(Baonghean.vn) - Replacing traditional crops such as rice, peanuts, and corn, farmers in some localities of Con Cuong district are coordinating with businesses to grow medicinal plants according to VietGAP clean standards.
Mr. Lo Van Doan's family in Cong village, Cam Lam commune (Con Cuong) is a poor household, facing many difficulties in life, with a small area of land for production, and poor soil, so whatever they grow is ineffective. In early 2018, his family decided to grow more medicinal plants, first of all, Solanum procumbens, with the desire to test the land and soil conditions to expand the model.
Up to now, after more than 5 months of planting, 1,000 m2Mr. Doan's family's Solanum procumbens is ready for harvest with an estimated yield of nearly 1 ton, the price ranges from 7,000-10,000/kg fresh. He said: Planting and caring for medicinal plants must follow the correct technical process, from land preparation, sowing to weeding, pest control...

Mr. Loc Van Trung - Chairman of Cam Lam Commune People's Committee said: From the success of Mr. Doan's family's Solanum procumbens growing model, the commune will soon mobilize people to replicate it.
If the business signs a contract, commits to buying at the right price and providing technical support, this is a way for people to get rich on the existing land area.

In particular, JICA (Japan) directly supports the technical aspects of planting, caring for, processing and preserving medicinal plants.
With the potential and advantages for developing medicinal plants, in the near future this could be a poverty alleviation plant in Con Cuong district./.
