With his spirit and enthusiasm for work, on March 3, 1930, Ho Sy Thieu was honored to join the Communist Party of Vietnam. He undertook many glorious tasks assigned by the Party organization.

Comrade Ho Sy Thieu (alias Quang) was born on July 16, 1905, in a patriotic peasant family in Xuan Lieu village (now Nam Anh commune), Nam Dan district, Nghe An province. His father was Ho Viet Giao, his mother was Nguyen Thi Kien, their family had 6 children and Ho Sy Thieu was the eldest child in the family.

Born and raised in a village with a rich tradition of learning, with many high achievers such as: Doctor Nguyen Quy Song, Associate Professor Le Trong Phan, Associate Professor Nguyen Thuc Dinh..., so from a young age, although his family was poor, Ho Sy Thieu was still allowed by his parents to study Quoc Ngu with teachers in the village. After that, he passed the entrance exam to Vinh National School. During his time studying here, Ho Sy Thieu studied and was exposed to books, newspapers and progressive ideas, from which, he developed a hatred for the enemy and a desire to save the country and save the people.

During his time studying at Vinh National School, realizing that Ho Sy Thieu was intelligent, agile and ambitious, comrade Nguyen Duc Nguyen (aka writer Hoai Thanh) directly propagated and enlightened the revolution and assigned the task of transferring documents and newspapers of Sinh Hoi to comrade Nguyen Trong Ton - a member of Tan Viet Party, in charge of the secret union of Truong Thi Railway Factory.

Due to his active and enthusiastic activities, in 1927, Ho Sy Thieu was admitted to the Student Association at Vinh National School with comrade Nguyen Tiem as Secretary. Ho Sy Thieu, along with comrades Thai Can, Tran De Qua, Nguyen Duy Loi, Tran Loc, Nguyen Thi Quang Thai..., worked actively and enthusiastically.

Ho Sy Thieu's activities could not be hidden from the enemy. Although there was no evidence, they still tried to order Vinh National School to expel him.

Returning to his hometown, Ho Sy Thieu tried to establish contact with the Tan Viet organization and built a Tan Viet base in his own commune. After a period of operation, the Tan Viet organization in Xuan Lieu village was established with comrade Thanh Nhan as Secretary, with regular meeting places at Cho Vac temple, sometimes Dai Hue mountain. Together with Nguyen Tiem and Bui Hai Thieu, Ho Sy Thieu made many contributions to building the Tan Viet Party base in Nam Dan.

At the end of 1929, introduced by comrades Nguyen Phong Sac and Vo Mai, Ho Sy Thieu was honored to be admitted into the Indochina Communist Party organization.

In early 1930, to avoid the relentless pursuit of the French colonialists and their henchmen in Vinh, and at the same time, to implement the policy of "proletarianization" and "laborization", many party members dispersed to industrial establishments, infiltrated factories, enterprises, plantations... to propagate and mobilize the building of Party bases. During this time, Ho Sy Thieu was mobilized by the Central Region Party Committee to Da Nang to perform printing tasks for the Regional Party Committee to propagate and mobilize the expansion of Party bases in the Central region. With the spirit and enthusiasm of working with all his heart, on March 3, 1930, Ho Sy Thieu was honored to join the ranks of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

In November 1930, Ho Sy Thieu's revolutionary activities were exposed. He was arrested by the enemy and sentenced to 9 years of hard labor under Judgment No. 153 dated December 31, 1931 of Quang Nam province for communist activities and exiled to Lao Bao Prison. Here, Ho Sy Thieu often had to endure savage and brutal torture by the enemy. But with his steadfast revolutionary spirit, he still did not say a word.

During his time in Lao Bao Prison, under the guidance and training of comrades Tran Van Cung, Tran Huu Duc, and Vo Mai, comrade Ho Sy Thieu was further enriched in his political qualities and duties as a party member, and became more confident in the victory of the revolution.

On August 19, 1934, comrade Ho Sy Thieu was released from prison but was sent back to Nghe An to serve a 4-year house arrest sentence. Returning home, he applied to work at the Vinh Railway Station Depot chief and was assigned by comrade Ha Huy Giap to continue researching and introducing good workers to enlighten the revolution.

In early 1937, the movement to welcome Goda took place strongly in Vinh, thousands of workers, including comrade Ho Sy Thieu and laborers in the districts gathered to raise banners and present petitions to the delegates. Fearing the organized preparations of the delegations, the French colonialists and their lackeys in Vinh mobilized soldiers in blue uniforms and police to suppress.

In 1942, when the French Popular Front was dissolved, Pétanque took power and implemented the “Purge” policy, eliminating all those with “anti-French” tendencies in all offices. Ho Sy Thieu was fired from his job at Vinh Railway Station Depot and put under the control of French secret police.

Returning home, comrade Ho Sy Thieu secretly sought to contact party members in Xuan Lieu village, organized the Viet Minh Front, and prepared to participate in the August General Uprising in 1945.

After the success of the August Revolution, comrade Ho Sy Thieu was elected to hold the position of Party Cell Secretary and Vice Chairman of the Administrative Committee of Xuan Lieu commune.

In 1947, comrade Ho Sy Thieu was assigned to do mass mobilization work, then became Head of the Emulation Committee of Nghe An province.

From 1950 to 1958, comrade Ho Sy Thieu held the following roles: Member of the Standing Committee of Nam Dan District Party Committee, Head of Security Department at Hang Co Station (Hanoi), Vinh Bank officer... Regardless of his position, he always fulfilled the tasks assigned by the Party and the People. In 1963, he retired and passed away in his hometown on September 18, 2010, at the age of 105.

With his great contributions, comrade Ho Sy Thieu was awarded many noble medals by the Party and State such as: Third-class Resistance Medal, Third-class Independence Medal, 60-year Party membership badge and many other noble titles. It can be said that, together with comrades Nguyen Tiem, Nguyen Phong Sac, Vo Mai, Ha Huy Giap..., comrade Ho Sy Thieu was honored to be one of the first elite party members of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The life and revolutionary career of comrade Ho Sy Thieu are worthy for our generations today to study and follow./.
