'Nghe An tourism is developing limply'

(Baonghean.vn) – That was the issue raised at the discussion session at group 7, 5th meeting, Provincial People's Council term XVII on the afternoon of December 18.

Attending the discussion were comrade Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council. Also attending were representatives of a number of relevant departments, branches, sectors and units.

Most of the delegates agreed and highly agreed with the assessment of the socio-economic situation in 2017 and the targets for 2018. In particular, the results of the direction and management of the Provincial People's Committee as well as of the sectors in implementing the tasks to achieve the highest economic growth rate ever (8.25%). However, there are still many limitations in the management of the Provincial People's Committee.

Speaking at the discussion, delegate Tran Duy Ngoan - Hoang Mai town unit said that some things only stopped at launching the movement but did not go into depth such as attracting investment. The Provincial People's Committee needs to have an investment policy to promote efficiency, avoid attracting many registered projects but not implementing or implementing ineffectively.

In addition, there are still many projects that are behind schedule and slow to implement, affecting economic development conditions and people's confidence. According to delegate Tran Duy Ngoan, currently Dong Hoi industrial park has Dong Minh, Dong Thanh and Tan Minh villages in the planning of 2 coal-fired thermal power plants. However, the project implementation is still slow and tentative, affecting the lives of people in the planning area in the past few years; some works such as village cultural houses and schools have not been upgraded and repaired. Therefore, the delegate recommended that the province should actively promote the implementation of projects and pay attention to people's settlement soon, to help people stabilize their lives.

Regarding traffic, delegates also recommended that the province pay attention to and upgrade some roads managed by the province that are seriously degraded. Specifically, the road section from National Highway 1 to Vuc Mau Lake; the section from National Highway 1 to Phung Hung Temple in Quynh Xuan Commune; and at the same time, complete the green road of Quynh Ba and Quynh Thach (the 2009 project has only been completed up to Quynh Van, the Quynh Xuan road section has not been completed yet).

Delegate Nguyen Thi Dung - Constituency in Cua Lo town reflected the situation of storm No. 2 and storm No. 10 recently directly affected Cua Lo town, in which many tourism infrastructure works such as the sea embankment east of Binh Minh street were seriously eroded. With resources and socialization, it is impossible to meet the ground level as well as the entire urban renovation for the damaged roads. It is forecasted that in 2018, Cua Lo tourism will face many difficulties, investment projects are on hold.

From the above situation, delegates also hope that the province needs to pay attention to investing in tourism infrastructure and building a brand for the seafood industry to promote the tourism strengths of Cua Lo.

Also in this field, Director of the Department of Tourism Nguyen Manh Cuong said that Nghe An tourism is developing in a limp way, without a professional approach, and tourism development is facing the wrong problem. Nghe An is only doing tourism to meet people's needs but does not have a long-term development strategy. Tourism promotion activities are still facing many difficulties when the allocated resources are too few. Service quality is still low, accommodation facilities are developing rapidly with a large number, but the human resources working in the industry are not strong, so the commitment of those working in tourism is not sustainable.

Regarding the new rural construction, delegate Tran Van Huy - Provincial Cooperative Union worried about the large amount of outstanding NTM debts. Therefore, to build a sustainable new rural area, it is necessary to pay attention to handling the issue of criteria debt and funding debt.

Regarding the issue of security and society, Mr. Tran Ngoc Son - Provincial People's Court said that the situation of adjudicating cases in Nghe An province is still high, there are many simple reasons that make unfortunate incidents happen. In order for the prevention and fight to be effective, in addition to the authorities, all levels and sectors, the whole society needs to participate more strongly and decisively in propagating and disseminating the law to the people; educating people in how to always love each other...

In addition, some delegates also raised many issues related to streamlining the payroll; traffic safety corridors need to be dealt with drastically; attention to administrative reform; planning cultural and sports issues...
