Nearly 200 athletes will participate in the boat racing at the Con Temple Festival.

(Baonghean.vn)-The traditional boat racing festival in the Con Temple festival will be held on January 21 (February 27, 2016). To prepare well for the tournament, the Organizing Committee has come up with specific plans and arrangements so that this year's boat racing will be exciting and attractive.

Starting this morning, January 19, the racing boats were gathered at the wharf in front of the temple to prepare for the traditional boat race. Participating in this year's boat race, there are 8 teams including: Quynh Long, Quynh Nghia, Tien Thuy communes (Quynh Luu); Quynh Lap commune, Quynh Phuong ward, Quynh Dy (Hoang Mai town) and teams from Hung Nguyen and Yen Thanh districts. Each boat racing team has 24 male participants. According to the Organizing Committee, the athletes participating in the boat race are experienced and healthy fishermen. The new point of this year's boat race is that there are 2 more participating units: Hung Nguyen and Yen Thanh districts.

Boats selected to participate in the Cau Ngu ceremony

Fishermen are repairing and hanging flags and flowers on their boats to create a solemn atmosphere during the Cau Ngu festival.

The art troupe rehearses the "Festival Drum Performance" to be performed on the opening night of the festival.

In addition to the boat race, the festival will have 8 boats selected to participate in the Cau Ngu festival. During the land procession, these 8 boats will depart towards the sea to perform the Cau Ngu ceremony according to local customs.

The annual boat race attracts hundreds of athletes and tens of thousands of tourists and locals to cheer.
