Nearly 300 students compete at the 24th Nghe An Youth Informatics Contest
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 12, the opening ceremony of the 24th Nghe An Province Youth Informatics Competition took place. This is an annual activity jointly organized by the Provincial Youth Union, the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Information and Communications and Vinh University.

The Youth Informatics Competition is one of the key contents of the Youth Union and youth movement in 2018 implemented by Nghe An Provincial Youth Union. The competition aims to encourage students to actively study Informatics, conduct scientific research, and apply information technology to serve the cause of industrialization and modernization of the homeland and country.
Contestants include students studying at primary, secondary and high schools in the province. Students will participate in two sections: IT knowledge and skills; and creative product (PMST).

Primary school students take multiple-choice tests on computers on general knowledge about computers, software, operating systems, application programs, computer terminology, and logical reasoning. The practical test either uses the LOGO language to program to solve problems in the primary school curriculum and create a presentation file with pictures and images drawn by the candidate; or uses the drag-and-drop programming language SCRATCH to solve math problems in the primary school curriculum.
Middle school students practice programming to solve math problems using Pascal, C/C++ programming language libraries or SCRATCH drag-and-drop programming language.

High school students take a practical exam to solve math problems using the Pascal or C/C++ programming language libraries.
The creative product contest includes individual or collective products serving learning, entertainment and other practical needs. The creative products will be evaluated by the Jury and a maximum of 10 best products will be selected to participate in the final round of the Provincial Competition on May 12 and 13, 2018.
