Nearly 500 people practice flood prevention and search and rescue in Yen Thanh

Thanks to good preparation, in the mechanism drill as well as the actual combat with the hypothetical situation of a super typhoon moving and developing complicatedly, directly affecting the locality, heavy rain caused leakage, landslides on the northern bank of Trau dam, hamlet 8 and some people drowned under the dam.

Faced with the above situation, the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control of Son Thanh commune directed and implemented rescue and recovery activities before, during and after the storm; immediately put the locality into a flood and storm situation, held meetings and handled flood and storm prevention and control situations at the command headquarters with optimal plans, close to the actual situation of the locality.

The commune mobilized nearly 500 people from the mobile militia platoon, the militia and self-defense force, the commune police, and people from the hamlets surrounding the Trau dam area, along with 5 trucks, more than 100 modified vehicles, 50 wheelbarrows, 2 canoes, dozens of iron baskets, hundreds of bamboo poles, packaging, sand, rocks, life jackets, etc.

The forces promptly handled 4 situations: dike erosion prevention, dike protection, dike landslides and search and rescue... ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles, and were ranked as excellent by the district's leadership.
