Aiming to preserve and develop the cypress tree, serving the purpose of exploitation and use to bring long-term economic benefits to the people, Que Phong district has made efforts to coordinate with the international organization GFFA to grant the first sustainable forest management certificate (FSC) for 837.2 hectares of cypress in Que Phong district, with a term of 5 years, of which Dong Van commune has 525.2 hectares (with 164 participating households), Thong Thu commune has 313 hectares (56 participating households).
Accordingly, the area of forest certified as sustainable forest must be required, sustainably exploited, preserved and cared for.
The granting of sustainable forest management certification (FSC) for 837 hectares of bamboo is very meaningful in developing the legal bamboo raw material market, not only bringing benefits to forest owners from the exploited bamboo source with higher value, but also the FSC certification of bamboo products will be enhanced and access to export markets to increase economic value.

After a period of rectifying the protection of cypress trees, on May 9, 2018, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Document No. 1084/SNN-KL on allowing the exploitation of cypress trees in natural forests in Que Phong district.
Mr. Bui Van Hien - Vice Chairman of Que Phong District People's Committee said: In 2018, the local authorities allowed people to exploit the forest again. However, during the exploitation process, the local authorities and people must strictly follow the instructions of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

From the initial certification, Que Phong district will continue to coordinate with departments and branches to obtain a sustainable forest management certificate (FSC) for the remaining area of lung.
