The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) cited data from the General Department of Customs, saying that in January, Vietnam exported 134 thousand tons of coffee, worth approximately 729 million USD, up 5% in volume and 6.2% in value compared to December 2024, compared to January 2024, down 43.7% in volume and up 0.3% in value.

Vietnam's average coffee export price in January reached 5,440 USD/ton, up 1.1% compared to December 2024 and up 78.1% compared to January 2024.

In general, Vietnam’s coffee exports in January to most traditional and potential markets decreased compared to the same period last year. Except for some other markets that still maintained an increase such as the Netherlands, Malaysia, etc.

According to the Import-Export Department, robusta coffee prices decreased in early February due to strong selling pressure from Vietnamese growers after Tet.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market also fluctuate:

Robusta Coffee (London):

Delivery March 2025: Down 24 USD/ton, to 5,674 USD/ton.

Delivery in May 2025: Up 32 USD/ton, to 5,648 USD/ton.

March 2025 delivery: Up 2.7 cents/lb, to 422.45 cents/lb.

May 2025 delivery: Down 0.85 cents/lb, to 406.55 cents/lb.

The decline in coffee prices reflects the cautious sentiment of investors as the market enters a correction phase after a series of strong increases.

Analysts say that although coffee prices may fall in the short term due to profit-taking pressure, the long-term market outlook remains positive as global demand remains high while supply has yet to show signs of a sudden increase. Brazil’s 1.6% cut in exports in January 2025 may help keep prices from falling too deeply. The market is currently monitoring weather developments in major growing regions to assess supply prospects in the coming time.
