Impersonating a psychic to scam money

Practicing psychic since 2014, Thang had an affair with a woman in Dien Bien and caused many people to fall into his trap.

The Hanoi City People's Procuracy has just completed the indictment to prosecute Nguyen Quoc Thang (born 1981, in Ba Vi, Hanoi) for the crime of Fraudulent appropriation of property.

Having studied until grade 6, having a wife and 2 children, Nguyen Quoc Thang has been practicing psychic since 2014. To gain people's trust, Thang hired someone to make a certificate of "Vietnamese Psychic" and "Psychic".

During his career, Thang met many people and realized that many people wanted to get their relatives a job in government agencies. Understanding this mentality of many people, Thang came up with the idea of ​​defrauding gullible people to take their property.

Thang established Phuc Duc International Trade and Travel Joint Stock Company (Cho Hamlet, Dai Mo Ward, Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi).

Thang introduced himself as a psychic at the Human Potential Research Center at No. 1 Dong Tac, Hanoi and that he knew many people working in the Ministry of Public Security. Thang also bragged to everyone that he had a card to enter and exit the Ministry of Public Security.

In this way, Thang created trust in job seekers and then received their applications and money, along with the promise of getting them jobs. Once he had collected the money from gullible people, Thang embezzled it and spent it all for personal use.

Using the above tricks, from March 2014 to July 2016, Thang appropriated 980 million VND from 6 people.

According to the indictment, Thang had a relationship with Ms. H. (born in 1980, in Dien Bien). Through Ms. H., Mr. Nguyen Van Dung (in Dien Bien) got to know Thang. Hearing Thang "brag" about their relationship, Mr. Dung trusted him and asked Thang to help him find a job.

Thang accepted and promised to get Mr. Dung a job at the project management board of Bac Tu Liem district for 100 million VND. Thang received 145 million VND from Mr. Dung and his wife, and used this money for personal expenses without getting Mr. Dung a job.

Besides Mr. Dung, 4 other people also became victims of Thang.

At the investigation agency, the "psychic" confessed that he had hired someone to make the "Vietnamese Psychic" and "Psychic" certification cards but had not used them and to this day could not remember where he had hired someone to make them. Therefore, the investigation agency decided to separate the documents for later investigation and handling.

In total, Thang has compensated 780 million VND to the victims.
