Rice prices on the market today have decreased compared to yesterday, with IR 504 Summer-Autumn raw rice falling to 10,700 - 10,800 VND/kg and IR 504 finished rice falling to 13,000 - 13,200 VND/kg.
Rice prices at retail markets are stable, with Nang Nhen rice having the highest price of VND28,000/kg and other types of rice priced from VND15,000 to VND22,000/kg.

OM 380 rice prices range from 7,600 to 7,800 VND/kg.

The sticky rice market has not changed compared to yesterday. The price of IR 4625 sticky rice is currently 7,400 - 7,600 VND/kg. The price of An Giang sticky rice is 7,000 - 7,200 VND/kg.
The price of rice by-products fluctuates from 6,450 to 8,800 VND/kg. OM 5451 broken rice costs from 8,600 to 8,800 VND/kg. Dry bran costs from 6,450 to 6,650 VND/kg, a slight decrease of 50 - 150 VND compared to before.

Vietnam's rice export prices have slightly adjusted, according to the Vietnam Food Association, 100% broken rice decreased to 452 USD/ton and 5% standard rice decreased to 567 USD/ton.
In the first eight months of 2024, Vietnamese companies spent $843 million on rice imports, up 43.6% year-on-year.
Although Vietnam is one of the world’s leading rice exporters, rice imports are still increasing sharply. Experts predict that if the current rice import situation continues, the import turnover could reach or exceed $1 billion in 2024, a new record.
Most imported rice is low quality rice, such as 25% broken rice and 100% broken rice, which is used to produce rice products.
Vietnam’s rice export prices have been rising since the middle of last year, even higher than those of Thailand and Pakistan. Due to high domestic rice prices, companies have imported rice from other countries at cheaper prices to save costs.
