Mr. Kishor Shamji, director of IPSTA, informed that in July, India imported 4,400 tonnes of pepper from Sri Lanka, which accounted for the majority of the total 5,085 tonnes imported.
Most of the pepper imported into India suffers from quality problems such as high moisture and mold, forcing distributors to sell their inventory at a loss, causing pepper prices to fall further.
