The Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association reports that pepper inventories from 2023, along with imports in 2024, are estimated at around 40,000 to 45,000 tonnes. This forecasts that pepper exports from August to the end of the year will be lower than in previous years, until the new crop is harvested in March 2025.

Mr. Marcellus Giovanni, CEO of Brazspice Spices International, said that through surveys of pepper gardens in major areas such as Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Dong Nai, although there are many pepper chains, there are also many chains with few seeds. Moreover, the current pepper is younger than this time last year.

International demand for pepper remains high, especially in traditional import markets. However, demand from China is volatile and may decline as pepper prices rise.

Drought in Espírito Santo, Brazil, has severely impacted the agricultural sector, especially coffee and pepper. Coffee producers in the Caparaó region, known for its high-quality beans, are facing production reductions of up to 60%.

Drought also halved black pepper production in the northern part of the state. High summer temperatures reduced the black pepper crop by up to 50%, and the impact continued into the fall and winter.

Due to the harsh weather, pepper plants have lost flowers and fruits, resulting in very small harvests. The president of the São Mateus Farmers Association, Renilton Correia, reports that producers are suffering an average loss of 80% of their production. The drop in production has had a negative impact on the market.
