According to traders, domestic pepper supply is gradually becoming scarce at the end of the season. Most farmers tend to stock up on goods in the expectation that prices will increase before the new harvest. As a result, domestic pepper prices have maintained a steady upward trend, although the export market has not seen many clear changes.
In the world market, pepper prices continue to be stable, showing that global trade fluctuations have not had a strong impact on this commodity. Supply from major producing countries has not changed dramatically, while import demand remains moderate. This is a favorable condition for domestic pepper prices to increase slightly without negatively affecting export activities.
Many experts believe that pepper prices may continue to rise due to expectations that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) will cut interest rates at its upcoming meeting. This factor, along with consumption demand that usually increases at the end of the year, will contribute to boosting the market's growth.
Vietnam currently holds a competitive advantage thanks to its tax rates and ability to provide stable supply, helping it maintain its number one position in pepper exports. To develop sustainably, the pepper industry needs to focus more on promoting deep processing, improving product quality and building strong brands, instead of relying heavily on exporting raw materials as it does now.
