Pepper price today, September 6, is at 151,000 - 153,000 VND/kg, stable trading session. Businesses are stepping up purchases of domestic pepper sources, creating pressure to increase prices.
Domestic pepper price
Pepper prices today in key growing areas are stable. Accordingly, the domestic pepper price level is from 151,000 VND/kg to 153,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, pepper price today in Dak Lak remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 153,000 VND/kg.
Pepper price today in Gia Lai is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,000 VND/kg.
Pepper price today in Lam Dong (former Dak Nong) is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 153,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, pepper price today in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is currently at 152,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai is unchanged from yesterday at 152,000 VND/kg.
In addition, today's pepper price in Dong Nai (formerly Binh Phuoc) remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 152,000 VND/kg.

Currently, pepper prices are still much higher than in early August. The main reason is that market supply has gradually stabilized after the holidays, while export activities continue to play a key role in keeping prices high.
The amount of pepper imported from Brazil by domestic enterprises has decreased sharply, from 3,000 - 4,000 tons/month to only about 1,000 tons. This forces enterprises to increase the purchase of domestic pepper sources to fulfill signed orders, thereby continuing to create pressure to increase prices in the short term.
Preliminary estimates for the first 8 months of 2025 show that pepper export turnover is expected to exceed 1 billion USD, the highest since 2018. However, this figure is still not comparable to the golden period of 2015/2016.
One notable point is that Vietnam's pepper export price is lower than many other markets, both for black and white pepper. This shows that Vietnam's pepper still maintains its competitive advantage thanks to large output, reasonable prices, increasingly improved quality and stable supply capacity.
In the short term, domestic pepper prices are forecast to remain high if supply remains limited and supported by increased import demand for year-end festivals.
However, to maintain export growth momentum, the pepper industry needs to focus on further improving product quality, while meeting increasingly stringent requirements on quarantine and traceability from high-end markets.
