Quynh Luu parishioners join hands to build new rural areas
(Baonghean.vn) - Quynh Luu currently has 16 parishes and 32 sub-parishes with more than 9,000 parishioners living in 15 communes and towns. Implementing the national target program on building new rural areas, in recent times, parishioners have actively donated land, supported labor and money, and completed traffic works in the area.
Village 7, Quynh Hong commune has 390 households with 1,700 people, of which parishioners of Thuong Nguyen parish account for more than 76% (equivalent to 1,300 people). Implementing the State's policy on building new rural areas, after the Front's Working Committee organized a meeting to propagate and receive the consent of the people, they voluntarily donated 500 square meters of land, demolished the wall, cleared the site and contributed working days to build inter-village roads longer than 2,000 meters, with a width of over 3.5 meters and a thickness of 18 - 20 centimeters.

In addition to the State's support of sand, gravel, and cement, the people also contributed over 1 billion VND, an average of over 3 million VND/household. Many upgraded and newly built routes have facilitated trade, contributing to changing the face of the countryside here.
“To build a concrete road, my family had to destroy more than 10m of wall, gate, residential land, rice field, which cost more than ten million dong. But with a concrete road, adults can go to work, children can go to school more easily, not to mention cars and motorbikes can also go to the house to buy agricultural products, life is much less difficult" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, a household leading the land donation movement in village 7, Quynh Hong commune shared.

After being informed by the pastoral council of Thuan Giang parish (Quynh Hung commune) about the benefits of the new rural construction program, especially the plan to upgrade and expand the road to Thuan Giang carpentry village, all 53 households on both sides of this road voluntarily donated land, demolished surrounding walls and solid structures.
On average, each household moved their own land by 1.2m.2to build the rural road. After a period of construction, the concrete road with a total length of 360m, width of 6.2m, thickness of 20cm was completed with a total cost of nearly 400 million VND. All of this money was contributed by the parishioners.

Implementing the new rural construction program, not only Thuong Nguyen Parish and Thuan Giang Parish, but also many parishes and chapels in Quynh Luu district have been mobilizing parishioners to compete in economic development, actively contributing money and labor to build many welfare projects, and implementing the new rural construction program.
In particular, in 2018, from the cement source supported by the District People's Committee with 765 tons, parishioners contributed working days and funds to build an additional 1.5 km of concrete road in Thuan Nghia parish (Quynh Lam commune), 3 km in Phu Xuan parish (Quynh Tam commune), 640 m of concrete ditch in Van Phu parish (Quynh Hung commune)... Building new Cultural Houses in Hamlet 8 (Cam Truong parish, Quynh Yen commune), Tho Dong hamlet (Van Truong parish, Quynh Tho commune), the average cost was 600 million/house, of which parishioners contributed 30%.
