Murder due to small conflict, man in Dien Chau district sentenced to 15 years in prison
(Baonghean.vn) - Just because of a small conflict, Lanh used a metal multi-purpose tool to stab his friend in the stomach, causing the victim's death.
On March 5, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened the first instance criminal trial of Ta Dinh Lanh (born 1988), residing in Dien Loi commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province, for the crime of "Murder".
According to the case file, at 9:00 a.m. on November 11, 2023, Lanh, Mr. THH (born in 1983) and Mr. THA, who live in the same commune, sat down to have breakfast and drink wine together at a restaurant. During the meal, a delivery man came to deliver to Mr. THA a multi-purpose metal tool (one end is a hammer, the other end has 3 tools including a sharp blade, a screwdriver, and a beer opener). After opening the package and not liking it, Mr. A. said, "Whoever likes it can take it." Lanh asked this man for the tool.
At about 10:40 a.m. the same day, Mr. H. went home first, while Lanh and Mr. A. sat for a while and then left. At about 12:15 p.m. the same day, Lanh rode a motorbike to Mr. H.'s house. At this time, Mr. H. finished smoking and told Lanh, "I'm high, my friend," and then went to bed. After that, Lanh also smoked tobacco and went to sit on the bed. Lanh opened Mr. A.'s toolbox to show off to Mr. H. The two talked back and forth, and Mr. H. immediately sat up and knelt on the bed, H.'s right hand hugged Lanh's neck and pressed him down on the bed, causing Lanh to feel suffocated and have difficulty breathing. At this time, Lanh pushed Mr. H.'s face away, and with his right hand, holding a multi-purpose tool, turned on the blade and stabbed Mr. H. once in the stomach.
Seeing Mr. H. injured, Lanh bandaged the wound and called someone to take the victim to the emergency room. Due to the severity of his injuries, Mr. H. died at the hospital. Lanh later went to the police station to confess his crime.
Standing before the witness stand, Ta Dinh Lanh honestly confessed his crime. Lanh influenced the victim's family to compensate the victim's family with 42 million VND.
At the trial, the victim’s mother filed a petition for a reduced sentence for the defendant. In the civil case, she requested the victim to pay an additional 63 million VND in compensation. Lanh agreed to pay the above amount to the victim’s family.
Considering the case comprehensively, the People's Court sentenced Ta Dinh Lanh to 15 years in prison for "Murder".
