Accordingly, to ensure the safety of passengers and aircraft during operation, the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam directed airlines to request passengers not to leave Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones in checked baggage; Airlines temporarily stopped providing battery charging services for Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones to passengers on flights.
The Civil Aviation Authority also requested airlines to report to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam matters related to the above incident before September 23, 2016.
The reason the Civil Aviation Authority issued the above directive is based on the recommendation of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that passengers are not allowed to turn on and charge the battery as well as check the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phone in checked baggage because of a battery failure that can cause the Samsung Note 7 phone to explode during use or charging.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the above directive will expire when there is a further official announcement from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
Samsung urges Koreans to stop using Note 7 On September 10, Samsung advised Korean people to stop using Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones. Samsung also asked customers to return their Note 7 phones to the company, in exchange the company will lend them another phone to use temporarily. Samsung recently had to recall 2.5 million Note 7 phones due to battery problems that caused them to explode. The company also pledged to return Note 7 phones to customers that are safe in terms of battery. |
