Thousands of people "rescue" Quynh Luu beach filled with trash

Previously, people in Quynh Long commune were exercising along the beach from Dai Tan village to Thanh Cong when they discovered a scene of wood and firewood drifting along the shoreline. Immediately after that, people reported the news to the local authorities.

After a period of waiting for the garbage to be collected, on the afternoon of September 15, Quynh Long commune mobilized people and social organizations to go to the beach to clean up the garbage. To help the locality overcome and clean up the beach, Quynh Luu District Youth Union mobilized hundreds of young people to go to the area to help the people.

Mr. Tran Quang Ve - Secretary of the Quynh Long Commune Party Committee said that after waiting for the garbage to be collected in the local sea area, the commune mobilized one person from each family to go to the assigned location to collect the garbage. The number of people mobilized to clean up the environment was up to thousands.

All the waste is firewood, miscellaneous wood, bamboo from upstream and dumped into the sea. According to estimates, more than 50 tons of waste including firewood, wood, garbage... have drifted to the beach of Quynh Long and Quynh Thuan communes with a length of 3 km.

Mr. Dao Xuan Son - Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Quynh Luu district said that the district directed Quynh Long commune to urgently clean up the beach due to the overflow of garbage. The commune was required to mobilize more vehicles to transport garbage, for large tree stumps, they need to be sawed for easy transportation. Along with cleaning, the commune needs to arrange a reasonable place to collect garbage to avoid congestion and environmental pollution. The department will consult with the district to provide additional funding for the commune to organize beach cleaning.
