HAGL coach ready to be fired after heavy loss to Hanoi

“If the team’s results are not good, the coach will be the first one to take responsibility. I don’t blame the players. If there is a decision to fire the team, I will comply,” coach Lee Tea Hoon shared after the defeat to Hanoi FC in round 3 of V.League 2020.

HAGL came to visit Hanoi's Hang Day Stadium with the determination to break the 8-year streak of not winning. Coach Lee Tea Hoon's team entered the match confidently, but faced with the superior class of the home team, HAGL easily accepted a 0-3 defeat.

After the match, Coach Lee Tea Hoon admitted that HAGL had a “convincing” defeat against Hanoi FC. “Hanoi won the championship last year. They have many good, strong and high-class players. But we also have good players. It’s a pity that our players made mistakes in the match. But they tried their best,” Coach Lee shared.

The Korean coach further explained his team’s heavy defeat. He said: “In the first half, our players could not develop their play, could not move forward to kick. The players retreated too deep, could not kick. After this defeat, we will have to fix the above problem.”

HAGL used a lot of long balls in the match on the afternoon of June 6. Explaining this, Coach Lee said: “In the first half, we intended to exploit the gaps behind the opponent’s defense. In the second half, we tried to exploit them but were unsuccessful. We did not intend to play long balls.”

Although the home team lost 0-3, coach Lee Tea Hoon still found a positive point to be satisfied with. That was the performance of captain Tuan Anh. “It is difficult to find a good player when the team loses. But I have compliments for Tuan Anh. When the team loses early, the players play hastily and make many mistakes, but Tuan Anh is calm and maintains the way he plays until the end. He tried his best throughout the 90 minutes. If I had to choose the best player, I think it would be Tuan Anh,” said the Korean coach.

Quang Ninh player broke his leg
Midfielder Nguyen Hai Huy had to be treated for a broken leg after a collision with Pham Hoang Lam in the Quang Ninh - Ha Tinh match in round 3 of V-League 2020 on the afternoon of June 6.

In the 60th minute, Hai Huy held the ball and tried to enter the Ha Tinh penalty area. Hoang Lam immediately rushed in and kicked the Quang Ninh midfielder in the shin. The strong collision caused Hai Huy to collapse, holding his leg and screaming in pain. After being taken out for first aid, he was taken by ambulance straight to Quang Ninh Hospital.

After the match, coach Phan Thanh Hung said Hai Huy had a fractured left tibia. The midfielder, born in 1991, will have to undergo surgery and it is not known when he will be able to return to play.

Quang Ninh received double sadness when V-League returned after nearly 3 months of suspension due to Covid-19. Besides Hai Huy's injury, the mining team also lost 0-2 to Ha Tinh - a rookie and lost all 2 first matches this season. The two goals of the away team were scored by Bruno Sousa and Mansary in the 27th and 65th minutes respectively.

This season, Quang Ninh invested heavily, recruiting two quality foreign strikers, Fagan and Lynch. However, Quang Ninh's performance is very unstable. They started the season with a 0-1 defeat at HAGL, before defeating defending champion Hanoi 3-1.
