Coach's ContractParkwill expire in early 2022. However, the contract signed in November 2019 hasone year extension clause.
The deadline to activate the above clause is January 31, 2021. If VFF and Coach Park both want to continue working together, the contract will automatically be valid and will not need to be renegotiated. The Korean coach's salary will not change, about 50,000 USD per month after tax.
Mr. Park arrived in October 2017, and quickly helped Vietnamese football flourish: winning the silver medal at the U23 Asian Championship, reaching the semi-finals of the Asiad, winning the AFF Cup, reaching the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup, and winning the SEA Games gold medal for the first time in history.

His contract was renewed by VFF in November 2019, with the highest salary in the history of Vietnamese football and the highest in Southeast Asia. He was also given the opportunity to retain a series of fellow countrymen as assistants such as Lee Young-jin, Kim Han-yoon, and most recently, doctor Choi Yu-young.

Vietnam is currently leading Group G with 11 points after five matches.
Why can't Vietnam organize World Cup qualifiers?
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has decided to centrally organize the last 8 matches of Group G in one country in June. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) had wanted to host these matches at home. However, due to various reasons, the VFF's wish could not be realized.
“The matches will be held in one country in June. The AFC will choose a suitable location based on the facilities for training, competition and the epidemic situation,” said VFF General Secretary Le Hoai Anh.

In terms of facilities, the AFC wants 5 luxury hotels, 5 standard training grounds divided equally among the 5 teams, and 2 quality stadiums for each group. Vietnam currently does not meet these standards.
In addition to Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand want to host the World Cup qualifiers. However, the AFC seems to be leaning towards two West Asian countries, the UAE and Qatar.
For Group G, the UAE is the most ideal venue. This West Asian country recently hosted the 2019 Asian Cup. They own a system of stadiums, training grounds and luxury hotels, praised for their quality on par with Europe. Qatar also has similar conditions as the country prepares for the World Cup next year.
The second reason is that the AFC wants teams not to be quarantined. Players who test negative for SARS-CoV-2 will be able to practice and compete immediately. Meanwhile, the regulations of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health require a 14-day quarantine upon entry. The epidemic situation in Vietnam is developing. The venue for Group G of the World Cup qualifiers is expected to be announced on March 15. The UAE is likely to host the last 8 matches of this group.
Vietnam team lost force in match against Indonesia
Coach Park Hang-seo will not have the services of Nguyen Trong Hoang and Tran Dinh Trong in the match against Indonesia in the second leg of the second qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup.
Dinh Trong and Trong Hoang are both pillars of the Vietnamese national team's defense. After the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced the postponement of the Group G match of the second qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup from March to June, the Vietnamese team will face Indonesia instead of Malaysia as previously scheduled. The AFC's penalties for coach Park Hang-seo's players will therefore be applied in this match.
Dinh Trong received a red card in the match between U23 Vietnam and U23 DPRK in the final round of the 2020 AFC U23 Championship group stage. According to FIFA regulations, Dinh Trong will receive a red card in the first match at a higher level team due to not being eligible to participate in the 2022 AFC U23 Championship (due to being overage).

Trong Hoang received two yellow cards in the matches against Malaysia and Thailand in the first leg of Group G of the second qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup, so he will be absent from the next match (against Indonesia).
If Doan Van Hau does not recover from his injury in June, Vietnam may suffer further losses in defense. Although Indonesia has run out of goals, the confrontation with coach Shin Tae-yong's team is still important for Vietnam in the remaining journey of Group G.
The Vietnamese team will meet Indonesia (June 7), Malaysia (June 11) and end the qualifying round of Group G with a match against UAE in round 10 on June 15.
In the recent meeting, representatives of the football federations of the teams in Group G agreed on a centralized competition plan. The identity of the host country for the remaining matches will be announced by the AFC on March 15.
