Workshop 'Protecting press copyright in digital environment'
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 13, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with the Vietnam Digital Communications Association and the People's Representative Newspaper to organize the Workshop "Protecting press copyright in the digital environment".
Attending the workshop were comrades: Pham Thai Ha - Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office, Assistant to the National Assembly Chairman; Do Chi Nghia - Standing Member of the Committee for Culture and Education; Dang Thi Phuong Thao - Deputy Director of the Press Department, Ministry of Information and Communications; Pham Thi Kim Oanh - Deputy Director of the Copyright Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Also attending were leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Vietnam Digital Communications Association and the People's Representative Newspaper; representatives of press agencies, experts, lecturers, researchers, etc.

In his opening speech at the workshop, comrade Ho Quang Loi - Vice President of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association stated: In the era of technology 4.0, with the strong development of social networks, cross-border digital platforms, and the system of news aggregators, the press faces many challenges and unprecedented problems; in particular, the situation of copyright infringement of the press is increasingly common.
This requires strong participation of state management and leadership agencies on the press, and state management agencies related to the fields of copyright and intellectual property.
In particular, in the digital age, digital content in general and copyright of press works in particular face new challenges, requiring the legal environment to be reshaped. Copyright infringement of press works is increasingly common and sophisticated, especially in the digital environment, with the explosion of social networks, news aggregators, etc.

Not only copyright infringement, news and articles that are "copyright stolen" in many cases are cut, distorted, and have incorrect information, affecting the reputation of the copyright holder and the author of the article, causing negative effects in society and affecting the development of the country.

The workshop had the enthusiastic participation of presentations and discussion opinions at the workshop "Protecting press copyright in the digital environment" revolving around the issue of finding directions to substantially solve the above challenges; reviewing the current status of legal, scientific and practical basis on the role of press copyright protection in the digital age; the current status of copyright infringement of press works; finding effective solutions to protect press copyright, especially in the digital environment...

The speakers discussed solutions to help protect press copyright in the digital environment most effectively; emphasizing the importance of technological solutions and proposing recommendations to improve the legal framework for copyright protection.

Within the framework of the workshop, a signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Vietnam Digital Communications Association took place on "Improving capacity and knowledge of copyright law enforcement, disseminating knowledge and cultural ethics of press agencies in enforcing copyright of press works"./.
