Workshop 'Promoting the cultural identity of the Tho ethnic group to serve socio-economic development in the western districts of Nghe An'
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 2, in Nghia Dan district, the People's Committee of Nghe An province coordinated with the Friedrich Naumann Institute (FNF) of the Federal Republic of Germany in Vietnam to organize the International Scientific Conference "Promoting the cultural identity of the Tho ethnic group to serve socio-economic development in the western districts of Nghe An".

Attending the workshop, the Central delegates included Dr. Le Doan Hop - former Minister of Information and Communications; Dr. Hoang Xuan Luong - former Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman of the Ethnic Committee, former Standing Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee; Dr. Pham Hung Tien - Deputy Director of FNF Institute; representatives of leaders and researchers from agencies, units and research institutes.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Tran Quoc Thanh - Director of the Department of Science and Technology; Hoang Thi Thu Trang - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Secretary of Nghia Dan District Party Committee; representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors; leaders of districts and towns where Tho ethnic people live, along with scientists and researchers on culture and ethnicity in the province.
The conference report affirmed: The Tho ethnic group is one of the fiveethnic minorityin Nghe An province, belonging to the Viet - Muong language group, residing mainly in Thai Hoa town and the districts of Nghia Dan, Quy Hop, Con Cuong and Tan Ky.
The Tho ethnic group is made up of many different groups, sharing some common characteristics, and at the same time having their own unique features in folk songs, folk dances, traditional festivals, rituals, ceremonies, etc.

However, during the development process,Turkish peopleThere is cultural exchange with Thai and Kinh ethnic groups, many traditional cultural values of Tho people have been lost, especially cultural elements in material and spiritual life.

In his concluding remarks at the workshop, Mr. Tran Quoc Thanh, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, noted that localities need to continue to pay attention to and focus on preserving and promoting cultural identity and indigenous knowledge, creating momentum for socio-economic development. In the development process, it is necessary to seek support from the State and socio-political organizations, while promoting the internal strength of the people.
