Today is the launch of the General Secretary's book on preventing and combating corruption and negativity.

The book by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the fight against corruption and negativity was officially launched today (February 2). This is a very significant event as it takes place on the occasion of the 93rd anniversary of the Party's founding and also marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negativity, under the Politburo, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The book is considered a review and assessment of the 10-year journey of our Party initiating and promoting the work of preventing corruption and negativity.

The General Secretary himself read and reread the draft many times.

Introducing the book "Resolutely and persistently fighting against corruption and negativity, contributing to building our Party and State increasingly clean and strong" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at a press conference last January, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Nguyen Thai Hoc said, "The entire ideology and guiding viewpoints of the General Secretary on fighting against corruption and negativity have been systematized in the book, as an answer to the question of why we have been able to fight against corruption and negativity so strongly and resolutely in the past time; why the fight against corruption and negativity has been so successful as recently, and has been highly appreciated by the world and has been interested in exchanging experiences."

According to the Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, the contents of the book "are not only distilled from the General Secretary's guiding ideology, along with the General Secretary's four speeches at four national conferences summarizing anti-corruption work in 2014, 2018, 2020 and 2022; and excerpts of the General Secretary's concluding comments at 36 meetings of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and negativity. The book also gathers information and documents from 50 years ago to form a new message on anti-corruption work, more attractive and profound".

“The General Secretary himself read and reread the manuscript many times. Especially in the overview of the book, the General Secretary corrected every sentence, every word, every period and every comma,” Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoc shared.

According to the observation of the Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, after many contacts and reports, the General Secretary, the head of our Party, could not help but worry when the book was named after him, he did not want to promote himself. However, after reviewing the entire content of the book, which was entirely his own products and articles, especially after reading the preface of the National Political Publishing House, the General Secretary agreed. On January 10, 2023, after reviewing the entire manuscript, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong agreed to publish the book.

Sharing more about the book's content, Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoc said that through this book, readers can see the concerns and thoughts about fighting negative corruption of the head of our Party that appeared before he became General Secretary. The 29-year-old young man pointed out "diseases" and bad habits such as fear of responsibility, circus acts, collusion... in articles published in the Communist Magazine 50 years ago.

“As I shared above, the book talks about the fight against corruption and negativity over the past 10 years, but the thoughts, viewpoints, and ideas about fighting corruption and negativity were mentioned by the General Secretary 50 years ago. It is a whole process, a continuous journey, consistent with the General Secretary's anti-corruption and negativity ideology,” the Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission emphasized.

Not only providing one-way information on the results of the work of preventing corruption and negativity, the book's editorial team also included the opinions of people from all walks of life and international friends to show that the results of preventing corruption and negativity over the past 10 years were not only mentioned by the General Secretary, evaluated by the General Secretary, and evaluated by party members, but also expressed trust and respect by people from all walks of life. That is an objective voice, expressing the idea of ​​unity from top to bottom, and transparency across the board as the General Secretary said.

Systematizing the General Secretary's views on anti-corruption and negativity work

Sharing more about this, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Tran Thanh Lam said that the act of collecting and including in the book the opinions of all walks of life, National Assembly deputies, including foreign scholars that have been published in the press for a long time, is a very commendable way of doing things, demonstrating objectivity, rather than requiring newspapers to interview and write articles, and the standing committee to collect opinions from the people, which would lack objectivity. This approach also helps to solve the biggest problem, which is why the book was published.

According to Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Tran Thanh Lam, the book's outstanding significance for readers and those working in propaganda is that it is a particularly important set of documents, systematizing the entire viewpoints and thoughts of the Party, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, on the work of preventing and combating corruption and negative practices, to build a clean and strong Party and State. This special set of documents is not only easy to read because it has been systematized and scientifically arranged, but also easy to research, easy to look up, easy to apply and easy to practice.

"The book will provide readers and those working in propaganda with a valuable set of reference documents," Mr. Tran Thanh Lam emphasized.

In April 2022, the process of compiling the book began to be planned, and an editorial team was established shortly thereafter, including journalists from Nhan Dan Newspaper, VNA, Communist Magazine, the Truth National Political Publishing House and Tuoi Tre Newspaper, along with members of the Central Internal Affairs Committee. After nearly a year of preparation, the book was completed with 612 pages, nearly 100 illustrations, presented in a modern journalistic style, divided into 3 parts: Some issues drawn from the practical struggle to prevent and combat corruption and negativity in Vietnam; Consistent with the motto "Preventing corruption and negativity from early on, from the top to the bottom"; Unanimity from top to bottom, throughout.

Sharing more about the process of compiling the book, Mr. Pham Minh Tuan, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House, said that to launch the book, the editorial team as well as the research team of the Central Internal Affairs Committee had to carefully read all the publications of the General Secretary, because the book's capacity is limited, how to select, choose and arrange it is a great effort of the collective participating in the compilation work, ensuring that the book is presented logically, scientifically, attractively and engagingly to readers.

The Director and Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House, Truth, also said that in the process of collecting materials for the third part of the book, the editorial team gathered thousands of articles and opinions surrounding the work of preventing corruption and negativity. In choosing how to express the logic of the problem, the editorial team had to be very thorough and careful, choosing opinions that were representative and typical of the different opinions of different groups in society./.
