More than 1.4 billion VND to repair the 'bridge of death'

(Baonghean.vn)– Dien Kim Bridge (Dien Chau district) is being repaired with a total investment of more than 1.4 billion VND to ensure safety for people in coastal areas.

Dien Kim Bridge is a steel girder bridge, over 100m long and 3m wide. The bridge connecting Dien Kim and Dien Bich communes of Dien Chau district was built in 1994. After 20 years of use, Dien Kim Bridge has contributed to ensuring traffic for people in the coastal communes of Dien Chau.

This bridge plays an important role in connecting Dien Ngoc and Dien Bich communes with Dien Kim across the Lach Van estuary, where the largest fishing port in Dien Chau is located. However, due to the erosion of time, Dien Kim bridge has seriously degraded.

Nghe An Construction and Trading Services Joint Stock Company is the unit that carries out the repair and upgrade with the main items including: Rebuilding 2 bridge abutments at both ends of the bridge to support the bridge, repairing the bridge railing, rebuilding 2 solid bridge ends so that people can travel with peace of mind. The repair and upgrade construction time is 3 months.

Many sections of the Dien Kim bridge railing have been completely lost. To avoid danger, people have reinforced them with wooden bars.

The fact that this important bridge has been repaired and upgraded is truly good news for the people of Dien Chau coastal area because for a long time, people have considered this a bridge of death, always posing a potential risk to traffic safety.

Mr. Pham Xuan Bang - Chairman of Dien Kim Commune People's Committee said: "The bridge being upgraded and repaired is the long-standing wish of the government and the people, helping fishermen feel secure when traveling. Currently, during the bridge repair process, the Commune People's Committee has requested to prohibit heavy-duty vehicles from passing through."
