The Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth and Children Football Tournament was established in 1996, originating from the enthusiasm of Party journalists and those working in the province's Culture and Sports sector. From a grassroots tournament, the Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth and Children Football Tournament has become an official annual traditional tournament of Nghe An province. The tournament takes place on the occasion of International Children's Day (June 1) and the anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).

Speaking at the press conference, comrade Tran Van Hung - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament stated: After 23 times of organization, the Youth - Children Football Tournament of Nghe An Newspaper Cup has become more and more impressive, has had a strong influence and received special attention from provincial leaders, all levels, sectors, districts, parents and children. The tournament has created a healthy and useful playground for children in the summer, contributing to promoting the socialization of physical education and sports in the province, the development of football in Nghe An and the whole country.

After 2 years of interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2022, with the utmost efforts of the members of the Organizing Committee, the support of provincial leaders, departments, branches, sponsors, leaders of districts, cities, towns, cultural and sports centers, parents, sponsors, the Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth and Children's Football Tournament officially returned in the excitement and anticipation of those who love the king sport in Nghe An land... The 24th Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth and Children's Football Tournament in 2022 is co-organized by Nghe An Newspaper, Nghe An Department of Culture and Sports, Nghe An Department of Education and Training and Song Lam Nghe An Football Joint Stock Company.

This year's tournament has the participation of 28 football teams (8 youth teams, 20 children's teams) from 21 districts, cities, and towns, with nearly 500 athletes. There are 6 localities sending both youth and children's football teams to participate in the tournament. The 24th Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth Football Tournament in 2022 will take place from10/6 - 16/6/2022. Children's age group is from 10 - 11 years old. Teenagers' age group is from 12-13 years old. At children's age group, competition is according to Futsal Laws. Competition venue is at Nghe An Provincial Gymnasium. At teenagers' age group, competition is according to 7-a-side Football Laws. Competition venue is at the artificial turf football field of Song Lam Nghe An Sports Joint Stock Company.

This season, the Organizing Committee will award Cups, Flags, bonuses (VND 30 million), Gold Medals to teams winning the children's championship and youth championship; award flags, bonuses (VND 10 million), Silver Medals to teams winning second prize; award flags, bonuses (VND 7 million), Bronze Medals to teams sharing third prize; award flags, bonuses (VND 5 million) to teams winning style awards. In addition, the Organizing Committee will also award individual titles in the youth and children's age groups: best player, best goalkeeper, player scoring the most goals; award players who study well and play football well in the 2021 - 2022 school year (good students of the province and excellent students with an average grade point average of 8 points or higher).

Comrade Ngo Duc Kien sincerely thanked the special attention of the provincial leaders, all levels, sectors, and localities, the companionship and support of many parents, and the active and wholehearted participation of young and child athletes throughout the past many years as well as in the coming time.

The Head of the Organizing Committee expressed his wish to receive the monitoring and accompanying propaganda of reporters from news agencies and newspapers, contributing to creating a strong spread of a healthy and useful playground for the young generation during the summer, thereby further promoting the development of the physical education and sports movement in general, and football in particular in Nghe An province.

At the press conference, the Organizing Committee conducted the draw to divide the teams into groups. Accordingly, in the youth age group, 8 teams were divided into 2 groups. Each group had 4 teams, the teams competed in a round robin, selecting the top 2 teams to compete in the semi-finals.

In the children's age group, 20 teams are divided into 5 groups. Each group has 4 teams, and the teams compete in a round-robin format. In this group, the 5 group winners and 3 second-placed teams with the best goal difference will be selected to compete in the quarter-finals./.
