(Baonghean) -After 30 years of striving and growing, Yen Thanh town has now been completely renovated, becoming a civilized, urban town.

The ancient town of Yen Thanh belonged to the administrative area of ​​Hoa Thanh commune, distributed in two residential areas: Tran Phu village and Phuc Tang village. Phuc Tang village was awarded the parallel sentence by the Nguyen Dynasty: "Quan hoa - hoa quan - quan phuong lich; Phuc Tang - tang Phuc - phuc long hoi".

During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, the people of Tran Phu and Phuc Tang villages made great contributions, contributing their manpower and resources to serve the frontline; contributing with the whole country to the Dien Bien Phu Victory and the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. During the resistance wars to save the country, 72 children of the town heroically sacrificed; 87 soldiers returned with their bodies no longer intact, carrying within them the pain left by the consequences of the war. The whole commune had 5 people awarded the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother; there were 15 cases of being infected or exposed to Agent Orange dioxin, and many other typical examples who devoted and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the homeland.

Remembering the early days of its establishment, the town's economy faced many difficulties and challenges. The town has a total natural area of ​​224 hectares; a population of 5,400 people, concentrated in two villages, Tran Phu and Chom Nam. The main occupation of the people is agriculture (accounting for over 95%); poor infrastructure; high rate of poor households... Faced with that situation, the Party Committee, government and people of the town have promoted the traditional role of the revolution; united to overcome difficulties, overcome all challenges; correctly applied the Party's innovation policy; promoted internal strength, exploited the potential advantages of the locality; sought the help of superiors to enter the innovation period with the whole country.

In recent years, Yen Thanh town has strongly developed in commercial services.

After 30 years of construction and development, the town's socio-economic development has made remarkable progress; the potential and strengths of land, conditions, and human resources have been aroused and effectively promoted. Yen Thanh town has become a comprehensive and dynamic development unit, with many indicators and fields surpassing other areas of the district: The average growth rate of total product in the period of 2010 - 2015 reached 12.6%/year. The economic structure has shifted strongly and in the right direction, with agriculture - aquaculture accounting for only 14.5%; industry - construction and services - trade accounting for 86.5%.

Built and developed branded agricultural products such as fragrant rice, clean chicken, straw mushrooms, fresh flowers. The scale of handicraft production and construction has been gradually increased. Expanded many business establishments, attracted many workers to exploit the advantages of the district center; formed concentrated trading areas; increasingly diversified services, contributing to forming a spearhead in the economic structure. The town has mobilized 16 billion VND to build a number of infrastructure items; continued to develop people's credit funds to expand investment, expand business... Average income is 22.25 million VND/person/year, 10 times higher than in 1986.

Over the course of 30 years, the town has mobilized thousands of billions of VND to invest in infrastructure construction, contributing to changing the appearance of the town to become more spacious and clean. Cultural and social activities have received due attention and achieved positive results. In particular, the socialization of education has brought about practical results. Up to now, 3/3 of the town's schools have met national standards and received certificates of merit from the Prime Minister.

In addition, social security policies continue to be implemented promptly and fully; gratitude movements, hunger eradication and poverty reduction and the campaign "All people unite to build a cultural life" have developed extensively. The whole town has 6/8 blocks and hamlets achieving and recognizing the title of "Cultural Village", 93% achieving cultural families, the rate of poor households according to the new criteria has decreased to 3.87%... In particular, the cultural life of the local community has gradually improved. Special attention has been paid to community health care; national defense and security have been strengthened...

As the central urban area of ​​the district, a key area for national defense and security, especially social order and safety, the town's Party Committee and government pay great attention to this work and consider it one of the regular political tasks. After the Party Congress, the town has rotated a number of positions according to the orientation of cadre work; organized additional review of cadre planning, sent for training and fostering, and considered this an important, necessary and meaningful task in implementing the political tasks of the Party Committee; built and improved skillful mass mobilization models; mobilized people to promote democracy, effectively implementing the motto of people knowing, people discussing, people doing, people inspecting. Every year, closely following the projects, goals and targets set out in the resolution, the town chooses reasonable solutions in socio-economic development, national defense and security and other areas of state management, especially in converting agricultural land according to urban development requirements...

Strive for the period 2016 - 2020, the average growth rate of the town reaches 11.3%/year; increase in production value for the whole term reaches 927.26 billion VND, an average of 185.45 billion VND/year. Total budget revenue by 2020 is 55 - 56 billion VND; per capita income by 2020 is 50.3 million VND/person/year, with 8/8 blocks and hamlets achieving cultural status; poverty rate below 2.5%; aiming for the town to meet urban civilized standards.
