Mobilizing more than 14 billion VND to support the poor
(Baonghean.vn) - Since the beginning of the year, the whole province has mobilized more than 14 billion VND in cash to help poor and near-poor households improve their lives.

Up to this point, the whole province still has 65,435 poor households, accounting for 7.54%; the number of near-poor households and households at risk of falling back into poverty is 85,555 households, accounting for 9.86%.
Among them, the number of poor households including the elderly, the sick, and orphans living in temporary dilapidated houses and the number of poor households lacking seeds, production capital, and medicine are still high and mostly concentrated in mountainous districts and border areas.
Therefore, helping poor, near-poor, and especially disadvantaged households to improve their lives has been given great attention by Party committees, authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, people of all walks of life, and the business community with many practical and specific forms and actions.

In addition to the Tet for the Poor program in the spring of Mau Tuat with cash and in-kind support for the poor and near-poor amounting to nearly 65 billion VND; since the beginning of the year, through the For the Poor Fund, the whole community has received support and assistance of more than 14 billion VND in cash. Of which, the provincial level mobilized more than 4 billion VND; the district level more than 6.2 billion VND; and the commune level more than 4.3 billion VND.
From the mobilized resources, the Fatherland Front from the province to the grassroots level has allocated support for more than 220 poor families to build new houses; 64 families to repair their houses. Along with that, it has helped and supported medical examination and treatment for 754 poor people; supported 875 students of poor households to study.
In particular, in 2018, the Fatherland Front at all levels focused on supporting the poor to develop production towards sustainable poverty reduction, through supporting livestock such as cows, pigs, chickens... and community projects...; with a total value of nearly 4 billion VND.
