Quynh Luu re-announced the epidemic

On May 16, authorities of Quynh Luu district said that African swine fever had just appeared in Son Hai commune.

Mr. Hoang Son - Vice Chairman of Son Hai Commune People's Committee said that on May 13, at Mr. Ha Huy Phuc's household in village 3, there were 3 sick pigs (including 1 sow and 2 piglets). Immediately after that, the commune reported to the district veterinary agency, and veterinary officers came to clinically examine them, showing symptoms of African swine fever, and took samples for testing. Immediately after that, the commune organized the destruction of 3 pigs of Mr. Phuc's family.

By the afternoon of May 15, the commune received a notice from the veterinary agency that the test sample was positive for African swine fever. Because there were 14 piglets in Mr. Phuc’s family’s barn, the commune proceeded to destroy them that same afternoon.

The commune also immediately implemented solutions to prevent and control the epidemic: Establishing a steering committee for epidemic prevention and control, assigning tasks to each member. Setting up 4 quarantine checkpoints on main roads; propagandizing on the commune loudspeaker system to inform people and spraying disinfectants on the roads, mobilizing people to buy lime powder to sprinkle inside and outside the barn area. Currently, there are 92 pigs in Son Hai commune.

Immediately after the outbreak in Son Hai commune, the district provided 24 liters of disinfectant chemicals, spraying machines and protective gear to support the epidemic prevention work. Today, the district People's Committee will announce the African swine fever epidemic in Son Hai commune.

The 11th commune of Dien Chau has African swine fever.

That is Dien Hanh commune, located in an area at high risk of African swine fever in recent times.

Information from Dien Chau District Veterinary Station said: At the farm of Mr. Vu Van Han in Hamlet 8, Dien Hanh Commune, there are 3 pigs (1 sow and 2 pigs). The veterinary agency took samples for testing on May 14. By the afternoon of May 15, the Veterinary Agency of Region III had positive results for African swine fever.

Mr. Tang Van Thanh - Chairman of Dien Hanh Commune People's Committee said: On the afternoon of May 15, immediately after receiving the results that Mr. Han's family's sick pigs tested positive for African swine fever, the commune proceeded to destroy all 3 pigs of the family. On the morning of May 16, the district announced the epidemic in Dien Hanh Commune, accordingly, the commune established 4 quarantine checkpoints, at the same time bought lime powder, and propagated to the people to absolutely not transport or slaughter pigs within 30 days as prescribed.

Faced with the rapid outbreak of African swine fever in Dien Chau district, this afternoon, May 16, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will work with Dien Chau district on disease prevention and control.

Thus, within 15 days from May 1 to 15, Dien Chau district had 11 communes with African swine fever: Dien Van, Dien Kim, Dien Thai, Dien Quang, Dien Bich, Dien Xuan, Dien Doai, Diem My, Dien Truong, Dien Hong and Dien Hanh.
