Tan Ky district (Nghe An) announced the end of African swine fever
(Baonghean.vn) - The People's Committee of Tan Ky district issued a decision to declare the end of African swine fever in Nghia Dong commune on the afternoon of May 9. This is the third district in Nghe An to declare the end of African swine fever.
After 30 days of the second outbreak of African swine fever in hamlet 1, Nghia Dong commune, no new outbreaks have occurred. Based on regulations, on May 9, the People's Committee of Tan Ky district issued Decision No. 1450 announcing the end of African swine fever in Nghia Dong commune and the threatened communes including: Tan Phu, Nghia Thai, Nghia Hop, Nghia Binh.

Previously, on March 26, an outbreak of African swine fever appeared in Tan Ky district at the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Dung in Hamlet 1, Nghia Dong commune. Then, on April 8, a second outbreak appeared in Hamlet 1, Nghia Dong commune at the house of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vinh.
The total number of pigs that had to be destroyed was 20, with a total weight of 1,295 kg. On March 26, the District People's Committee issued a decision to declare African swine fever in Nghia Dong commune.

Thus, up to this point, Tan Ky is the third district in Nghe An to be free of African swine fever, after Quynh Luu and Do Luong districts. In the immediate future, activities of buying, selling, slaughtering, and using pork will return to normal in these localities.

Although the district has declared the end of the epidemic, African swine fever is still complicated in some localities in the province, so the epidemic can still reappear in the district. Therefore, the district recommends that localities take proactive measures to prevent the epidemic, propagate to livestock households to clean their barns, spray disinfectants, and sprinkle lime powder periodically.
During the period of controlling African swine fever in Nghia Dong commune, Tan Ky district, 72 liters of chemicals were used, spraying over 144,000 m2and 1,500 kg of lime powder to serve epidemic prevention in epidemic hamlets and hamlets in threatened areas.
Tan Ky district currently has over 40 thousand pigs, with 10 large-scale pig farms.
