Two Vietnamese "circus princes" made judges and viewers burst into tears when they deliberately staged props to fall while performing a dangerous head stacking act.

On the evening of June 3 (UK time, early morning of June 4 Hanoi time), brothers Quoc Co - Quoc Nghiep competed in the final round of Britain's Got Talent with 9 other contestants. The program was broadcast live on the UK's ITV channel. The Vietnamese cousin Giang competed sixth, after singing and comedy performances...
The couple appeared on stage in military uniforms with national flag badges. After performing some warm-up moves such as push-ups, lifting, and basic balancing, Quoc Nghiep suddenly took off his shirt, showing off his six-pack abs, exciting the judges and audience. The two brothers performed their signature head-to-head act, but at a riskier level than the preliminary and semi-final rounds.

This time, they did not go up and down the stairs but moved on 6 precarious and dangerous support pillars. Quoc Co was extremely nervous as he had to concentrate all his strength to maintain his balance while carrying Quoc Nghiep on his head and step accurately on each support pillar. When he was about to step on the 5th pillar, which was also the highest pillar, suddenly this support pillar fell, all the remaining pillars shook violently and fell with it. The judges and the audience had a moment of heart-stopping fear.
Amanda Holden even covered her face, not daring to watch any longer. After standing on the fourth pillar for a long time, quite a distance from the safe position, Quoc Co decided to take a long jump to the wide support. He landed safely with Quoc Nghiep still on top. All four judges stood up, expressing their excitement at this performance. The audience continuously cheered and encouraged the two brothers. Quoc Co and Quoc Nghiep burst into tears, hugging each other tightly on stage.
The judges were scared out of their wits when the Giang brothers had an accident with their performance props. |
The MC revealed that this was the first time Quoc Co and Quoc Nghiep had completed the competition without a safety belt. Judge David breathed a sigh of relief after the performance: "We all tried very hard. If you watch the performance in a movie, people will say it's a technique. This is really an impressive, unbelievable performance." Alesha shared that she thought the Giang brothers could not overcome this challenge, but in the end they did it. Amadan Holden admitted that, as a woman, she was thrilled by the dangerous performance of the Vietnamese contestants. Judge Simon Cowell commented that Quoc Co and Quoc Nghiep had improved their performance a lot compared to the previous two rounds.
A member accompanying Quoc Co - Quoc Nghiep revealed that in fact, the incident of the pillar falling while the two brothers were performing was intentionally set up to increase the drama of the performance.
In addition to the performance of the Giang brothers, the Britain's Got Talent final night also featured singing performances by contestant Calum Courtney, The D-Day Darlings, father and son duo Jack & Tim, comedy performances by Lost Voice Guy Lee Ridley, and dance group DVJ... As a result, "the guy with no voice" Lost Voice Guy Lee Ridley won the 2018 Britain's Got Talent championship with his comedy performance. He received a prize of 250,000 pounds and a performance for the British Royal Family. The next two positions respectively belonged to Donchez Dacres and Robert White.
Quoc Co - Quoc Nghiep not being in the top 3 not only surprised Vietnamese fans but also many international audiences expressed their regret on the contest's fanpage. They thought that the Giang brothers deserved to be recognized with higher achievements for their wonderful, emotional performance on the Britain's Got Talent stage.
Quoc Co hugged his younger brother tightly, overwhelmed with emotion after completing the risky competition. |
Although he did not win the final, Quoc Co was still satisfied with the performance of the two brothers on the British stage. "We have completed our mission. That is the mission of Vietnamese people always holding their heads high. The award is no longer important to us. Because we have done what we wanted, which is to show the world what Vietnamese people and Vietnamese circus are like. I feel very happy and satisfied because after the serious injuries, I finally completed my performance. Now I just wish to go home quickly to hug my wife and children. They are the ones who have experienced anxiety, sadness and tears for me in the past days. Thank you everyone for watching, encouraging and praying for us," Quoc Nghiep shared.
