Urgently handle landslide at Truong mountain in Nam Thai commune, Nam Dan district

According to people in Hong Son hamlet, Nam Thai commune, every rainy season, the Truong mountain area experiences serious landslides, with rocks and soil pouring down from above, burying entire gardens, threatening people's lives and property.

After the 2020 flood season, cracks and landslides appeared in the Ru Truong area of ​​Nam Thai commune, Nam Dan district, forcing more than 10 households living at the foot of the mountain to evacuate. Through contact with voters, people have repeatedly requested measures to prevent landslides.

Through the inspection of the current landslide situation of the relevant departments, it was found that: The landslide on Truong mountain is 1,160 meters long, the cracks are 2.5-3 meters wide, and about 1.5-2 meters deep. To ensure the safety of the people, a plan is needed to evacuate people from the landslide area for resettlement.

Faced with the above situation, relevant departments and branches have come to survey, and in 2024, the Provincial People's Committee has allowed the Nam Dan District People's Committee to deploy landslide prevention according to the design of digging the slope, proceeding to step the slope with a floor height of 10 meters, each floor creates a 5 meter wide base, arranges longitudinal drainage ditches at the base's foot, arranges vertical drainage ditches on the mountain roof to drain surface water from the mountain top... After completion, organize tree planting to restore the environment according to the approved plan.

Taking advantage of favorable weather, the traffic management unit has mobilized excavators, diggers and trucks to urgently carry out the construction, currently reaching over 50% of the volume. It is expected that by the end of 2025, the project to handle the landslide on Truong mountain will be completed.

Mr. Ho Si Hai - Vice Chairman of Nam Dan District People's Committee said: The district regularly urges and supervises the construction unit, speeds up the progress of the landslide treatment project as planned, ensuring safety for more than 10 households in this area.

In addition, Nam Dan district also has a landslide in Thuong Tan Loc commune. When the rainy season comes, the district directs the commune to deploy announcements and warnings of landslide risks to households so that people can proactively take precautions. At the same time, mobilize the commune's militia and self-defense forces to organize timely response to handle situations, support and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
