When will students take the national high school exam on computers?
The latest report from the Ministry of Education and Training sent to National Assembly delegates stated that by 2021, candidates taking the national high school exam will take the exam on computers.
Report No. 810/BC-BGDĐT sent by Minister Phung Xuan Nha to National Assembly delegates to serve the 4th session of the National Assembly. The Minister of Education and Training said that after 3 years of implementing innovation, the method of organizing the national high school exam and regular university and college admissions has achieved basic goals and has been highly appreciated by society.
“The method of organizing the national high school exam in the coming years will remain stable as in 2017. In 2018, 2019 and 2020, the organization of the exams and subjects will also remain stable as in 2017. From 2021 onwards, the exams and subjects will be designed in accordance with the roadmap for implementing the new general education program; if conditions permit, candidates can take the exam on computers,” the report stated.

Currently, most of the high school graduation exams combined with university entrance exams have been designed in multiple-choice format, making it easy for candidates to take the test on computers. |
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Training will continue to build a standardized test question bank, improve the differentiation of test questions according to the current general education program and gradually orient content according to the roadmap for implementing the new general education program.
The head of the education and training sector also pledged to "review priority groups and priority areas to adjust priority scores in admission to suit actual conditions and better implement social justice".
According to the above Report, in 2017, candidates can register for admission without any limit. Especially after the results of the national high school exam are available, candidates can adjust their admission wishes to match the exam results to increase the possibility of being admitted to professions that suit the candidates' abilities and conditions.
The Ministry of Education and Training affirmed that this is a very humane regulation, highly supported by candidates and parents.
One difficulty is that the total number of registered wishes is very large. However, with the optimal virtual selection and filtering method and process, along with the strong support of information technology and computer networks, the Ministry of Education said that after completing the virtual filtering process, each candidate will be admitted to the highest priority wish possible in the list of wishes that the candidate has registered.
The admission process also ensures the autonomy of schools (determining quotas, creating admission plans, determining admission conditions, participating in groups or recruiting independently; estimating virtual rates, determining admission scores and lists of successful candidates, etc.). Admission information of schools is publicly disclosed, transparently and fully in the admission plan.
Thanks to the application of information technology in all stages of the admission process, especially the first time virtual filtering technology was applied in the admission process, in the first round, up to 170 schools met their admission quota; if calculated from the level of 70% or more of the admission quota, this number is up to 234 units (accounting for 73% of the admission units). This number is much higher than previous years, thereby reducing the pressure on the additional admission round.
In addition, the two joint admission groups (56 schools in the North and 86 schools in the South), in which most of the major schools participate, coordinate in using common admission sources and admission databases, which has been effective in implementing the admission process smoothly and quickly; ensuring the unity of the group and the autonomy of member schools.
