Prosecution of deforestation case
The Investigation Police Agency of Phu Yen Provincial Police has issued a decision to prosecute the deforestation case that occurred in sub-zones 83 and 90 of Phu Mo commune, Dong Xuan district, Phu Yen province.

Through initial investigation, authorities determined that some households had paid dozens of local people to illegally cut down forests to obtain land for production.
The total area of deforested forest is 109.9 hectares. Of this, 33 hectares of forested land is planned, including 25 hectares of protection forest and 8 hectares of production forest; the remaining 76.9 hectares of land has regenerated timber, including 24.3 hectares of protection function planning and 52.6 hectares of production function planning.
Currently, the case file has been transferred to the People's Procuracy of Phu Yen province to carry out steps according to criminal procedure.
Previously, on May 17, at an urgent meeting to determine the cause and responsibility of those involved, Phu Yen Provincial Party Standing Deputy Secretary Luong Minh Son requested the relevant agencies in the province to handle the case seriously; requested the police, the Procuracy and relevant agencies of the province to thoroughly inspect and, if conditions are met, to soon prosecute the case.
At the same time, the provincial internal affairs agencies and the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission must check for signs of violations. If related violations are detected, cadres and party members will be dealt with first./.
