Strangely, a village with only one household still has a complete administrative apparatus.
Trang Soi village, Trieu Ai commune (Trieu Phong, Quang Tri) has 6 households registered for household registration but only 1 household actually lives and still has full administrative positions.
On November 3, Mr. Dang Sy Dung - Chairman of Trieu Ai Commune People's Committee confirmed to Dan Viet reporter that in the area, Trang Soi village has only 6 households registered but still has a complete administrative organization. Trang Soi village was established in 1992 under the project of migrating to the new economic zone of Tay Trieu Phong.

Currently, the village has 6 households registered in the commune, but only Mr. Nguyen Cac’s household lives permanently in the village (called “real life”), the remaining 5 households live in the style of “hillside, field”, one scene, two hometowns. That is, when there is administrative work, production…, those 5 households go to Trang Soi, but normally they stay in their old hometown (plain communes of Trieu Do and Trieu Thuan, Trieu Phong district).
The reason why households do not live permanently is because the village has not received investment in electricity and roads. Trang Soi village is about 6km from Dong Ha city and 10km from Trieu Ai commune People's Committee, but all have to go through the forest road, which is quite dangerous.

Despite its small population and lack of party members, Trang Soi still has a complete administrative apparatus. Mr. Nguyen Cac holds the position of village chief and head of the front committee, receiving 1.5 million VND per month. The position of police officer is held by Mr. Hoang Minh Phong (now temporarily residing in Ha Xa village, Trieu Ai commune - near National Highway 1A to facilitate his children's education), receiving 1.1 million VND per month. Ms. Vo Thi Ba holds the position of head of the women's association (no allowance), and is also head of the village's farmers' association, receiving 450,000 VND per month.
Mr. Dang Sy Dung said that the current situation of Trang Soi village is a legacy of history. In the long term, authorities at all levels need to invest in infrastructure to attract people to live there. In the short term, with the village having too few people, it is necessary to consider merging.
According to statistics from the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Tri, in 2013, Hai Vinh commune (Hai Lang) had 6 villages, of which 3 had small populations, including Thuong An village with only 6 households/32 people, Luong Chanh village with 7 households/22 people and Thuan Duc village with 11 households/47 people. Trieu Do commune (Trieu Phong) had Dong Giam village with only 7 households/30 people. Pho Lai Phuong village (Cam An, Cam Lo) had only 10 households/25 people. And especially, right in Dong Giang ward (Dong Ha city), there was a residential area of 10 with only 18 households.
Mr. Ho Ngoc An - Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Tri said that it is unreasonable for a village to have only 6 households but full administrative and union titles. Because the name of the village can be recognized for that locality, but the apparatus must be appropriate to the size of the village.
