Lac Xuan Dien Chau earns profit of 2.5 million VND/sao

(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, Dien Chau farmers are harvesting and selling fresh peanuts right in the fields. Spring peanuts are priced well this year, with farmers earning from 3.5 to over 4 million VND per sao of peanuts.

This spring crop, Dien Chau planted nearly 3,000 hectares of peanuts, mainly traditional lotus-shaped peanut varieties, L14, L23. Although the planting time encountered cold damage, killing a lot of area, thanks to timely pruning and care, the spring peanut crop in Dien Chau still ensured productivity; on average from 2.5-3 quintals/sao (fresh peanuts).

Dien Thinh is the commune with the largest peanut area in Dien Chau district with 415 hectares. At this time, people are entering the harvest season.In highland areas, peanut yield reaches 2.5 quintals/sao, while in loose land, the yield will be up to 3 quintals/sao (fresh peanuts).

From May 10th onwards, farmers have started harvesting spring peanuts. Peanuts harvested early in the season are mainly sold fresh right in the field, at a price of 14,000 VND/kg. Farmers earn from 3.5 to more than 4 million VND per sao of spring peanuts, after deducting expenses, they still make a profit of 2.5 million VND/sao. This spring crop, the entire Dien Chau district has expanded the area of ​​peanut fields to 150 hectares and has cooperated with local businesses to consume the products.

Farmers said that fresh peanuts were bought by traders at the field price of 14,000 VND/kg, 2,000 VND/kg higher than the previous spring crop.

Mr. Le The Hieu - Head of Dien Chau Agriculture and Rural Development Department said: Although production faced difficulties at the beginning of the season, farmers had to replant twice, this year's peanut yield in Dien Chau is still guaranteed. The average peanut yield is 5-6 tons/ha, equivalent to the spring crop of 2015. Currently, farmers have only harvested about 10% of the area, the price of fresh peanuts in the field has increased by 2,000 VND/kg compared to last year (from 12,000 to 14,000 VND).
