Half a month ago, Trieu Son District Police received a report from Ms. Nguyen Thi Nam (43 years old, resident of Dan Luc commune) about her family's 1,800 m2 rice field being burned to death, suspected to have been destroyed by bad guys spraying herbicide.
Expanding the investigation, the police identified Mr. Minh as the perpetrator. He said he took revenge on Ms. Nam's family due to personal conflicts.
According to the authorities, her husband had passed away a long time ago, and Ms. Nam had an affair with Mr. Minh. Recently, Mr. Minh lost his wallet and suspected his lover of taking it, leading to many arguments.
One day in mid-April, after drinking alcohol, Mr. Minh bought weed killer and secretly sprayed it on Ms. Nam's field "to vent his anger".
According to property valuation, Ms. Nam's more than three acres of rice suffered damage of about 6,500,000 VND.
